Weekend Work

So it's Saturday and I was already up this morning at just before 5:00 AM and did my best to fall back asleep for a little longer with almost no luck. I think in the end I ended up getting 20 to 30 minutes more sleep but it was that 'thinking' type of sleep and rest where you basically have your eyes closed and are just on the border of actually sleeping and not.

I finally said heck with it and got up and moving forward with my day. Made myself a nice big cup of coffee and a bowl of warm cereal with cranberry and raisins added in for flavor and substance, otherwise hot cereal can be a little dull.

Once done getting all of that ready I turned around to see Oggy staring at me with the look of 'please feed me I am so hungry' in his eyes. We all know that he is far from hungry and is very well fed and taken care of but who am I to deny that cute fuzzy face his breakfast even if it's a couple hours early?

So Oggy ate, went outside and took care of his morning business and came back in to get his treat for doing so. He then headed back into the bedroom to nap for a little longer while his full belly settled and until Cicely was out of bed.

This meant that it was time for me to dive into my mostly hot cereal and have my 14 ounces of coffee as well to kick start my day. Everything was great and it was just enough food and time to get the sleep out of my eyes, fully wake up and start the day off right.

Weekend Work

The last thing I want or like to do is to have to bring work home with me on the weekends. Unfortunately this weekend I had no choice but to do so. With reviews on the horizon still and those of us in leadership positions waiting for the final calibration from HR we have many other things to get into gear.

First off we have another audit coming up to qualify us for our ISO certification next week. This means that we need to get our training records, employee development plans and related in gear so we are not dinged on anything. It's not like it's a pass or fail situation, they will come back and verify that you are up-to-date and have corrected anything found. It's just better to get past it first try and forget about it for a year.

So this weekend, hopefully only part of this morning, I will be working on updating all of those records and making sure they are accurate and up-to-date. Sounds easy enough I know but it's time consuming with many checks and balances to do it right.

Next I have to work on every employees 2015 developmental and corporate goals. Get them all entered, approved and pushed back for the kick off of the 2015 fiscal year. Last year due to many circumstances out of our control we were nearly 3 or 4 months late on the and that is not a good thing for anyone.

Other Stuff

I hope to get out of the house today and be able to go for a ride if the weather stays like it is at the moment. Mostly gloomy and cold which is perfectly fine so long as it's not raining I don't have any problems going out and riding in it.

I stopped last night on the way home and picked up a new blower as well from Home Depot. I have had my eye on it for a while and I stoked, yes stoked, to finally have it in my arsenal. At just over $200 with tax it's still worth every cent. Much more powerful than my current blower and the battery can be used with my hedge trimmer and my lawnmower as well which is awesome.

A spare battery would run me $199 so why not get an extra tool along with it as well as another charger. The charger is a slower one than the mower. It takes approximately 45 minutes to charge where as the fast charger takes only 20-30 minutes with a completely dead battery. Both are still super fast all things considered of course.

All of the new equipment is the EGO brand that Home Depot started carrying a year or so back and I really like it. Very powerful and well built with solid warranties. I did not get the extended warranty on the blower, maybe I should have I dunno. I did on the mower because it was just over $600. I don't remember if I bought it for the hedge trimmer or not, I think that I did, shoot maybe I should have? I probably still can I will have to check.

Anyway the tools they make are awesome I have no clue what the longevity of them will be, again because they are so new to the market. Hopefully 10+ years like my gas powered equipment otherwise they were not as great as I am thinking they are at the moment. Wait and see and live and learn I suppose.

Swing

Yesterday even though it was kinda cold out we stopped by the park close to home and we were finally able to find a swing for younger kids around Zoey's age. She had a good time 'I think', mostly unsure because it was a little tough to tell because she was probably a little cold and trying to figure out what the heck was going on.

First we woke her up from a nap to go to Home Depot, then she just fell back asleep only to be woken again to go out into the cold to swing and go down the slides with papa. I think she wanted to smile a little, get some photos snapped to make Cicely and I happy and get back to the warm car and her comfortable blanket to resume her afternoon nap.

Fade

Okay I think that will do it for today. I did hear yesterday the the rover that landed on the comet is having some issues because it bounced slightly when It tried to deploy it's anchors. The almost nonexistent gravity it has did not bring the river back down for nearly an hour.

Once it did it was now in a shadow so they are running out of battery power as it only has 2 hours worth I think and requires solar cells to maintain its charge. Unfortunately in the spot it's in there is too much shade.

I read they have some additional methods to get the batteries charged up so I hope they'll be able to get it worked out and the 10 year mission will continue to be a success!

Photo: Nice shot of the park we went to yesterday. It's funny, no more dirt or sand. The entire area is this squishy rubberized cork-like material that sorta bounces as you walk on it.
