Cold
So the temperature this morning is a toasty 18° with a high expected to be only into the 40's or possibly touching the 50's if we are lucky. For me this means that it's back to wearing jeans and bundling up in the mornings. Something I really hate to do. I prefer the flexibility of summer clothing and the comfort of it. Winter is the season where everything we wear is stiff and stuffy, bulky and just plain annoying to me.
I have always hated wearing jeans to be perfectly clear, this is nothing new. They are either too long, too short, too baggy or low cut so my ass crack pokes out.
The ones that are the most comfortable are usually the same as the pairs that look the sloppiest to others. Meaning they are usually baggy or loose fitting throughout but fit nicely everywhere else, most importantly in the waist.
For me it's an even bigger struggle being on the shorter side of average height for men. I am 5'8" which is not short persay but jeans seem to be made assuming all men have shorter torso's and longer legs. I am more in the middle but with a slightly longer torso. So put me in what I would consider comfortable jeans and I look ultra baggy or as though I have a load in my pants - fun!
Alright, that is about enough with the bitching about my jeans and the cold weather. Heck I have not even started bitching about scraping windows, shoveling snow or taking up leaves!
Winter, boo!
Work
So thankfully I was able to get all of the work done that I needed to this weekend with the exception of one item that I can take care of today I think. All of the MBOs for 2015 are approved and in, all of the recommendations for the upcoming bonus and merit budgeting is completed as well as writing my own MBOs for 2015 for both performance and developmental goals. Sounds much easier than it is and I am happen to be done!
Today and this week should be more about getting the schedules in place for the third and fourth quarter of 2016 as well as getting games assigned to individuals. That can be fun or a pain in the ass depending on how crazy the hours are compared to the available resources as well as games that require localization development.
I will get through it though, it's part of the job and something I am working to improve upon so it's much easier in the future to do. At times it can take me a couple days to nail down the schedule when in reality I feel as though it should not take me more than an hour or two.
Cycling
I went for a ride last night and about froze my nuts off doing so! I have some great cold weather gear but I was still cold and my toes were colder than anything else on my body. The shoe covers that I have do help quite a bit but the cold still manages to sneak through.
After only a little more than 10.6 miles I had to call it quits and give in to the 28° weather that was kicking my ass.
On the plus side it motivated me to put in the order for my new KICKR indoor trainer. I was going to put it in before leaving this morning for work but I want to see if I can find a discount coupon first to save a few bucks on it.
I am going with a trainer that uses my bike instead of the way I was going to go and get a full on indoor trainer that is self contained, mostly because it's one less thing to break and the KICKR is open source so there is no telling how much the technology and equipment for it will continue to grow and improve. As it is now it's already awesome!
Holidays
Well once again the holidays are proving to be a pain in the ass and they are not even officially here yet. It's up in the air as to who is coming and when, where we are going and all things related.
It will be great to see everyone, have everyone see Zoey and all of that goodness it's more about trying to make everyone happy, not piss anyone off and that sort of thing that sucks.
All Done
That will do it for today's entry. I could rabble on for awhile about various things that I will leave alone for the time being. I don't want to be a grinch or an asshole before the holidays are even upon us. I will save that for then. Heck even then I may just cover it all up with some good booze to make it all better!
Photo: This is how I should have started my day. Instead I had soggy-ass waffles that were just as nasty as they sound. On the bright side I was able to give Zoey a taste and I think she enjoyed them?
