Employment Law, Day 1

So today was my first day back to school in a few months and I am taking 2 days worth of classes, just over 16 hours, to make up for the classes that I missed back when Zoey was born and I had to drop out of them due to Cicely's preeclampsia issues as well as wanting to be with my daughter and wife during that special time. The last thing on my mind was going up to school and learning the I'm not sure and outs of the employment legal system.

Well today actually went really well and it was a good class. Honestly even though very engaging it was also dry at times when students would get on a tangent about specifics they are facing at their place of business.

Can't Win

So basically it seems that with The laws surrounding employment practices and liability there's not a real way to win. You're much everything you do is at risk for becoming a lawsuit in one way or another. Even if you're on your best behavior so to speak you can get in trouble for saying one or two wrong things or with the small amount of misdirection. Then I can trickle down to management and supervisors as well even though they may have had little or no interaction with the problem at hand.

You can pretty much see anyone for anything that you want and almost everyone in one way or another can claim that they have a disability depending on how they preface it and the needs that they require tube better do their jobs on the day-to-day basis. The nice thing is you don't have to get them exactly what they want you simply have to give them the minimum they need to perform the job duties day-to-day.

Tomorrow is more of the same and should prove to be interesting depending on the lawyer that we have teaching the class. He is supposed to be very interesting as well so hopefully that is true so I can get through the day quickly.

Don't get me wrong, I want to learn as much as I can but at the same time I would like to be able to be done with these programs and move on with normal day-to-day life.

Holidays Suck

So this is our first holiday with Zoey and it's one of the bigger ones which is Thanksgiving. We were going to start most of our own traditions this year with Christmas and thanksgiving. Nope, not the case this year. We now have Cicely's mom coming into town on Thanksgiving day and not leaving until the day before going back to work for us. This really sucks because it gives us no time to chill after it's all said and done. The shxt part is that this is almost all of the birth of my daughter stuff once again with everyone else dictating how I am spending my time and special moments with my family.

Now on top of this my dad and step mom wanted us to come over since their final thanksgiving here will most likely be here before they move to Alabama between now and the following year. We considered it because her mom was no longer coming. We told them that, now she is coming once again and once again we will have to update everyone of this and see where it goes from here.

It's just a total mess as usual and I am in a mood and feel as though everyone keeps stomping on our days. I know it seems selfish on my part as well. We enjoy family but at the same time in these situations the visit should be up to us and the days we offer them to be here with us not the other way around.

Anyway

That is enough out of me and I will stop bitching and get back to life and quit messing with my heart rate getting pissed off about this stuff now out of my control because reservations are made, tickets are bought and so on.

Time to swing by work now for a few and see what is going on, namely because Cicely has to go back and wrap up a few things. Otherwise it would be home for me and sitting on the couch growing roots. Did that last night and Sons of Anarchy was awesome.

Only 2 episodes left and no clue what is going to go down now that Jax knows that Jemma is the one that killed his wife. In turn starting all of the bullshxt that had all the clubs killing all the wrong people. Several in the club getting killed and so on. Huge mess all initiated by Jemma, not really any different than she has ever done in the past - total shxt starter.

Anyway with that I am going to call it quits now for real and get done with this day. I have been on the computer or iPhone the majority of the day at school as well - time to give it a break.

More news on the class tomorrow and getting my 2 certificates and being done with all of this, FINALLY!
