Graduated

Yep it's a wrap and that's a fact bitches! Yesterday was my final day of school up at UNR, well until I decide to sign up and start one of their other programs that are of interest to me. So many interesting ones to choose from its difficult to stay away and not learn something.

There is a full blown program tha basically focuses entirely on the internet marketing, social media and related side of business. Although it may seem rather remedial for anyone to simply set up a Twitter or Facebook account for their business there is actually a lot mire to it.

Fast Company recently published an article explaining why putting advertising dollars into either of them is not helping anyone financially other than those that are selling the advertising.

Oh well enough about that, I could honestly go on and on with regards to that sort of marketing advertising. Outside looking in it can appear to be very lucrative, but the ROI on your initial capital investment is rarely returned.

Same thing happened last night watching Shark Tank. There was a guy that had a killer product and would have probably received more offers but it really messed him up when they asked how the books look and he had to tell them that he has only earned 250k over 4 years. His profit / income from that would be around 60k max and that is not worth the time investment for anyone.

In the end I think he made a decent deal with Laurie from QVC so he is sitting in a really good spot going forward. I thought the product was great but at the same there are better ways to do the same thing. It must have been hate nigh because the shars were all fired up.

Sick

It's official I am once again sick with some stupid ass cold that I must have picked up along the way. Figures I was just sick with a cold about 3, maybe 4 weeks ago and here I am once again. The crappy part this time is that I am on my vacation as well. I guess there is only so much you can do especially when your kiddo is probably bringing stuff home from daycare.

Comic Con

A lot of people went to Comic Con that was here in Reno for its initial kick off event. It's kinda expensive if you ask me.

I think that Cicely was telling me tickets were running $75/person for the 3 day pass (not bad), otherwise it was $45 a day if you bought them at the door. If it's your thing it's worth it to be able to get to see some actors that were there as well as all the other stuff that goes with the convention. People dressing up and that sort of thing.

Of course Reno being Reno we had to have a stupid ass Comic Con Crawl this weekend. I think those crawls are stupid, mostly because they do them for anything and everything so they get a little bit annoying.

TTYL

Putting a period at the end of today's entry I think. I am having a difficult time even keeping my eyes open as it is. The colds have been making me über tired lately and this one is no different.

Photo: Giant blow-up turkey that Zoey likes to check out when we are heading home from daycare. They do them for several seasons, pretty cool stuff and I think all the kids like them - if not then that is ok, more time u rushed for Zoey.
