Yep, It's Monday

Well the nice weekend is over, focusing on things like where to go ride, what to do with the family and if I should sleep a little longer or research something a little more are all in the rear view window for a few more days. Today its time to buckle down and get back into the groove of the workweek and see what challenges I am presented with and how I can manage them effectively.

Lately I have been able to utilize many of the things I have learned from school to help me through various situations and challenges. Sometimes they work well, other times I need to take a second, step back and look at where the conversation or situation is headed and change my course of action or direction. This is not a bad thing what-so-ever, rather, in my opinion the way that it truly should be done. If you are adaptable and can switch your style on the flip of a coin based on those that you are helping, more like "coaching" then I think a successful outcome is more in my reach.

CEO Blast

Last night I decided to check my work email around 1:30 AM because I had woken from the couch and was getting a drink of juice before waking up Cicely, Zoey and Oggy then heading into bed. The CEO email blast was something that I had higher hopes for than I probably should have. I was under the impression that once it finally came out we would better understand what was going on and if our company was truly going to be sold to the highest bidder.

Well after reading the email there was really nothing in it other than a lot of words. I know that sounds cheap or cliche but honestly, I could not make heads or tails of the thing. Its not because I am not CEO minded or anything of the sort, but its because it was written with a lot of jargon that never really got to the point. More or less a lot of "key words" that seemed to skate the elephant in the room in a very strange and more importantly ineffective manner - something, in my opinion you would avoid doing at the CEO level with a topic weighing so heavy on employees minds.

I plan to read it again this morning on the way into the office so Cicely can hear it before getting to work and we can discuss it a little bit between ourselves. My hope is that maybe Cicely can shed some light on it for me and point out why I was misunderstanding it. My bet is that she will be just as confused by the whole thing as I am.

Daddy Day

So my first Father's Day was a great one. I received a really cool biking outfit from Cicely that I had been wanting from Alpinestar but was waiting to get it because for the shorts and the shirt it was just under $250 plus shipping. I was getting ready to go for my daddy day bike ride when she came in the room, apologized for it not being wrapped (lol) and gave it to me. How awesome was that!?! I thought it was VERY awesome and immediately cut the tags off and put on the gear. It was so much nicer wearing that when riding the road bike compared to my normal loose shorts and bike shirt.

Once back home from my ride I got in the shower and we headed out to Cicely's parents house to have BBQ which was great. We were able to visit with the family, talk to her uncle and aunt who we do not see very often for some reason and they too live very close to us.

Oh I also opened my gift from Zoey, not sure if I had mentioned that or not yesterday. It is this really cool framed list of things she is thankful that I do for her. Things like make animal noises, change diapers, play and so on. Then it has a footprint from her left foot if I remember correctly, and says happy Father's Day daddy, love Zoey 2014 under it. Very special and something I will keep for as long as I am allowed to breath the fresh air around me.

With That

I think that will be the dot at the end of this entries sentences. I am fairly worn out today and need to get my head in the game soon. This is the week that I have not really been looking forward to because I have 3 days of leadership training at work, all day each of those days. While I do in fact look forward to the training 100%, I am not looking forward to some of the exercises we have to do in the class from what I have heard from others. I think I am simply tired of doing white board, role play, group exercises because we do so many of them up at UNR for both of my programs.

Oh Well it will be over before I know it and I will be on the road to something else. Friday will be the thing in the mirror after the classes actually. That will be a nice carrot to have out in front of me to keep me focused on the goal. It will be nice to hopefully go to the marina with the family since we were not able to make it yesterday.

Photo: Just a photo I thought was cool of a jar of Cicely's Mod Podge Gloss Lustre sealer.
