So this morning started out just like most mornings - rolled out of bed, went into the kitchen and started the water boiling for a big cup of "wake the hell up man!", better known as strong pour over coffee with just a dab of vanilla creamer. Next it was a quick egg white sandwich that I of course always share with Oggy as I check my email and the happening in and around the internet.
Next it would be time to feed Oggy his breakfast that he does not share with me and I am OK with that. In reality his food is just as good as ours only labeled "not for human consumption". His is chicken breast, vegetables and so on - not the cheap stuff, rather the $5/can stuff and he is worth every penny of it. Although as of late he has been putting on a rad more weight because of the rich food and not going for as many walks. We need to do something about that, the little fella loves going for his walks and we enjoy taking him on them as well.
Mow Time
Once Oggy was done eating, had gone out and taken care of his morning "business" and was back inside I gave him his "good boy" treat and it was now time for Zoey's breakfast. Cicely had already made a bottle last night so all I had to do today was put it in the bottle warmer. Four minutes later the warmer was beeping and kiddos breakfast was ready to enjoy.
Took the bottle into Cicely who was just getting Zoey out of the bassinet - perfect timing, and I changed into my lawn mowing clothes. Went outside and edged the front yard, pulled some weeds and then mowed the entire thing. One awesome thing about my new EGO electric mower is that I can mow pretty much whenever I want because it's so quiet. Anyway, once done mowing I used the blower to clean up all of the stray clippings and chalked it up as a job well done for the week.
Back inside it was time for a shave, brush my grill and shower to get ready to head off to work. Work should be interesting this week because of new policy changes going into effect tomorrow. All of us in management will know about it today so we can prepare for any reactions employees may have. Thankfully it should only affect a very small portion of our companies population and thankfully it's not the same old news about layoffs or something. Again, can't go into details, never know who reads the crap I write.
Cadence
So yesterday while at REI getting a few saddles to try I picked up a new device for my road bike and to pair with my Garmin Edge 1000, it's a cadence counter / meter. Now I know what you are thinking - "why the hell does he need that he is a newB?". I will tell you why - it's because I figured that for the measly $40 if I could keep an eye on my peddling revolutions I could better understand my gearing and my performance on ascents, descents and so on. Anything to help me improve and make it that much more fun is worth it to me. I fully realize that riding a lot gives you the most knowledge but I like to squeeze some technology in there when I can as well.
I hopefully will have some time to install it tonight and get it paired up to my Garmin. Then give it a try this week, if not then this weekend for sure.
Anyway
I think that about does it for today I don't have a whole lot else going on and need to get into work to prepare for any damage control that is necessary tomorrow after the policy announcement. I have a feeling that it will not be too bad since it only affects a small percentage if the company, but it will be seen as another negative by many and possibly another reason for them to begin polishing up their resume - bummer!
Hopefully Monday is treating you fair. So far it has been plenty fair to me and I would like it to stay that way and plan to direct it as such within my power
If the day is not everything you expected and you are reading this earlier enough, keep in mind that there's always tomorrow to figure out what went wrong, regroup, refocus and get back into the game. Have a most excellent day!
Photo: Never really thought the day would come that I would be buying a road bike bicycle magazine much less owning one, wearing tight Lycra and so on - ha ha, how things change! Although still no golf bag and clubs in my possession so that's good!
