On the other hand if work was paying for these classes that would be the ideal situation. Unfortunately they have since changes many of the benefits and rules for reimbursement and most continuing or completing of education is outside of the scope unless you are finishing up a masters or PhD for example. Yea, I don't have time for that but if I did I probably would "just because", well and the fact that I am a bit of a knowledge addict.
For Sale
There has been no additional news or press releases on the sale of my company other than a few rumors, lots of chatter about it in the studio and press releases of a few companies that "could" buy it potentially but are not even in the mix or have considered it.
My best guess if this were to happen is that we would be purchased by someone in another country looking to get into the U.S. market or someone in the U.S. that has the interest yet wants a company that has all of the difficult stuff out of the way. We are so highly regulated that anyone coming in would have a long road before they were really "in the game".
My estimate would be 8-12 months is how long the entire sale would take to be inked. Then it could take upwards of 1 to 3, even 5 years for them to really be ingrained in the industry in the manner they would need to be. That is unless there are variables in their favor that come along with any deal. This could speed up the process a great deal.
Most worry that like any other company sale the new owners would either clean house or get rid of the entire place. I don't see this happening. In a sense we already cleaned house a few months back with all of the lay-offs and in hindsight who knows, maybe that was the icing to make our cake that much more sell-able in a crazy market.
All speculation of course so we will see how it turns out. There is no real reason to freak out about it all so I am choosing to not waste energy doing so. What ever happens with something like this is out of our control for the most part. The only thing we can do is continue to kick ass and really prove how valuable we are to the test of the industry as well as potential buyers looking at us with a microscope.
Ride
Ride
Went on a really nice ride last night after work. It was only 4.3 miles, starting out with a nice hill climb only 0.3 miles into the loop. I am determined to get stronger and improve my climbing techniques so that is the focus of the ride. I have to do so much climbing on the mountain bike that it's an area that needs a lot of improvement and strength building.
Anyway the ride felt great, I was able to concur the hill with only a very small amount of cussing which is a great sign that I am progressing already. I generally break climbs down based on the amount of times I want to get off the bike but start cussing to keep myself going. Normally this would be a 4 or 5 word hill but last night it was a zero. Well except when I got to the top and turned right for the downhill I did say "whew, fuck yea - I made it!". I'm not counting that one though, it was more about victory than turning pain and suffering into motivation.
Any Who
That will wrap it up for today. Time to shift into work mode and see what this day has to offer or what I may be able to offer it I suppose. The remainder of the week is school so I don't image there being any earth shattering posts, but there will be posts none-the-less. Until then, have a good one!
