We are super happy for them and wish them all the best. More importantly we want to welcome the little one into the world. It's awesome to finally see you little one - Rebecca Ascher Rogers. She was 8.8 lbs and 21 inches long.
To my step brother AJ and his wife Elizabeth; enjoy the time you have with her at this moment in time and while she is at that size. I realize my daughter is only just inching up on 4 months old, but it has truly shot by like a rocket. They do grow fast as everyone says and if you blink you probably missed "something". The great part is that most things happen often or at the very least come around again. Make sure to catch each and every one of them. Whether as a memory, photo or video so you can relive those moments again and again.
Last I would suggest getting more hard drive space, space on your phones and even a cloud storage account of sorts. You will be amazed if you are anything like us at the amount of photos you will take everyday as well as video. Funny part is that we really do not take "that many" compared to some and we still have piles and piles online.
Again congratulations you 2 and welcome to the world of parenting. Zoey is teaching us lessons every single day and I am sure Rebecca will do the same to you 2. Enjoy it, sleep when she sleeps and play when she plays. It is such a fun, scary, exciting, nerve racking, emotional, draining and rewarding experience all bundled up into a cute little package.
There will be good and there will be bad, but more like things you just don't know or understand. Don't worry, something natural kicks in and it all works out wonderfully. It sounds strange I know but having just been there it's much easier to relate and remember.
Ride
This morning I am going to get my butt out of the house and go for a mountain bike ride I think. Then I just might map out a course and take a road bike ride this afternoon. It all really depends on how I feel and how the weather goes.
If I do the mountain bike ride I need to figure out where I want to go today. The ride I normally do up to the Hole In The Wall is always a really nice workout but I sorta want something new this weekend. I was considering the Keystone Canyon trail again even though it royally kicked my ass the last time, took a chunk out of my shin and so on, it was a fun trail for the most part otherwise.
I will need to jump online and figure out where I plan to go and try to map it out on my Garmin 810. This way when I get there and up one of the single track trails that ends with the presentation of 5 other trail options I hopefully know where to turn to go to the area I want to ride.
There is one area out toward Washoe Valley that I have been eying for weeks so I "may" attempt that one. I just have a feeling that it's an advanced trail and possibly out of my league. I am always up for a challenge unless it requires me to walk my bike on 70% of the trail. If so, I might as well left it at the car and went for a nice hike. Of course sometimes the downhill is so awesome that the bike was well worth it. More on that either later today or tomorrow.
School
Alright so another 2 days of school is behind me and I am able to move on to the home stretch of only 4 more days, 3 more classes. Problem is that they are not available until the Fall semester so I am out of class and out of luck until September or so I think. I do have one elective that I may take in July, otherwise that is all that is offered that I need for a while. I am so ready to be done that is for sure. It has been a long road and a lot of money to accomplish this.
No matter, last weeks class was much better than expected and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of useful information and knowledge that I took away from the 2 days. That is always a great sign that it was time and money well spent.
This coming week I have 3 days of classes at work that are required. I hope that I am able to say the same once those are under my belt and behind me. There are things we will be doing in the class that I am not looking forward to, things like the role playing and so on. It's great experience but it's also what I have been doing for the past 6 months on and off up at UNR. I guess I will see and just take it day by day and take away all that I can. Heck it's more free education under my belt after-all.
Photo: One of the 2 trails I was wandering around on today on my mountain bike. Initially I did not care much for the area but it grew on me by the time I was done for the day. It's always a great thing when the day turns out that way.
