Class
Today in class we are focusing more on the changes that happen in corporations both big and small. Everything from how to keep your own head on straight to helping keep your employees focused on the tasks at hand rather than the outside distractions that easily take our focus away from the job we are there to perform or the next awesome game we plan to release.
It's ideal that this is part of the class because of all the chatter in the news, stock market and related about my company at the moment. It's proving to be a huge amount of noise and distraction for myself as well as those on my team and on other teams. Inadvertently anything going on in one area spreads to all areas quickly.
While I for one do not want to look for a new job nor do I want Cicely to have to, I am trying my best to remain focused and work hard everyday because in the end worrying is only going to bring me down and not help anything go one direction or another. As the cliche saying goes "need to take everything as live for the moment" focusing on what is in my direct control.
New Toy
Last night after work I bit the bullet and went over to REI and picked up another Garmin Edge. This time I bought the Garmin Edge 1000 and am selling my 810 on eBay for a killer price. No idea if it will sell but it's worth a try and I can use the money to replenish the cash I used to buy the 1000.
Honestly I have a lot of things that could spend $600 on but I really wanted the bigger screen, built in WiFi and a plethora of other features. While the 810 was nice it did not fit my needs "exactly" as I had hoped that it would. In reality I should have bought it in the first place. I figured going middle of the road was the best choice. Live and learn I suppose. Well and the fact that it will have cost me around $100 for the mistake by the time I list, sell and ship the 810 - if it sells.
More on the 1000 later I am sure. I did not have time to set it up last night but hope to tonight and use it this weekend if not before.
**Update: The Garmin 810 sold today after only being listed for a few hours, woot! Shipping it off tomorrow to the new owner and going to setup my 1000 tonight - fun stuff!

Does It
That will do it for today's entry. It's day 2 of 3 of my classes and I am looking forward to day 3 of 3 to put it behind me and move on to the next classes I need to attend at both UNR and at work.
So far I think all of it has been well worth my time and is helping me to grow in my position as a manager. I am having a good time with the role so far and want to continue to find ways to improve my leadership skills any chance that I can.
Have a great day, get what is yours and make sure to give and share what may be needed. You never know the positive impact you may have by doing so! Until tomorrow, enjoy the day in front of you not yesterday or tomorrow.
