Free Monday

So Monday is already upon us (just as I say almost every week ha ha) but for a change I don't have to be in the office this Monday which is great! My company actually recognizes Presidents Day as one of our holiday's. There are not that many that we recognize as a corporation, I think about 6 to 8 max per year. Compared to the offices we have in Asia and Europe it's probably a joke to them. They average over 20 days a year off for holiday time. Oh well, there are a lot of people I know that will have to work today so I cant sit back and whine about lack of days off now can I?

Instead I will enjoy it the best that I can, get some extra rest and hopefully get some things done on my 3D printer build as well as a few things left to do in the baby room. Mostly hang up a couple more items that we have as well as the one that we bought on clearance the other day, Saturday, when we were there picking up a few things.

On the plus side we will have to go back there either today or tomorrow because I found a better deal on the car seat base that we bought. Amazon had it for just under $22 cheaper! So all we have to do is take the receipt in to the store, show them the ad online and they will price match it and give us the difference back on our card or in cash.

Pretty cool actually, and even cooler to get some money back for something we did not really like to have to buy in the first place because its only used for a very short period of time. Although the convenience of having a base in each car will pay for itself due to the lack of stress and frustration. Not to mention we know that they are both installed correctly and are the safest possible for baby.

Dinner

So dinner last night was great! We met my dad and Cyndi at the steakhouse just before 6, we had reservations that they made for 6:30 but we were still able to get right in. We had bread, salads, steaks, pasta and salmon, baked potatoes and rice as well as fresh steamed veggies. No we did not each have all of this, this is a combination of what everyone had.

For dessert we had what appeared to be a flour-less chocolate cake and cheesecake. We actually received both of the desserts for free because they messed up Cyndi's dinner. She ordered the pasta and somehow ended up with the salmon and a small serving of the pasta. She went ahead and kept it so she could eat with us all, but I think she really wanted the pasta. I understand why she did it though, had she not, we would have all been done with dinner by the time she would be given her correct entree. A bit of a bummer to be honest but she said it was good. I am sure it was, just not what she had her heart set on having.

It's actually really strange to be perfectly honest. We have been to the steakhouse many times both with and without them and the service, food and accuracy is usually perfect. I think either they are getting some new staff up to speed because of a change in ownership or something else is going on. I sure hope that it corrects itself though, I would really hate to see the place go downhill.

Drinks & Chatter

After dinner we sat at the table for probably a good hour to hour and a half just talking. Then we headed out to the casino area and grabbed a table by the bar to sit and chat for a little while as well. It was nice to hang out and do that, we don't get to very often so it means a lot to us to be able to. We only had one drink each and poor Cicely was unable to have anything with booze. Even with dinner she only had a Shirley Temple.

All-in-all a really good night though and I am glad that we were invited and that we went. Today they are going to the new theater that opened up. It's a full on IMAX theater with fancy seating that has recliners, table trays and so on. You can get beer and wine as well as specialty foods to enjoy during the movie just as you would at home. You can of course get all of the normal movie theater goodies like popcorn, candy and soft drinks I am sure.

We were invited to go but I think we are going to wait until another time to go. I think they are smart going today because the theater is still so new that it will be the best it is going to be. I guess what I am getting at is that I hope kids and crap don't start messing the place up.

School

So I registered for another 3 of my classes yesterday and another $800 out the door doing so. I have a total of 3 classes coming up in the next 3 weeks that I am trying to get through. Then I have one way off in June as well as some in between. I decided to get both of the certificates that are available. That would be the management one as well as the human resources one. It only requires me to take an additional 4 classes or so to do so, so I figured why the heck not?

Sure it will cost another $1500 or so doing so, but I think that it will be worth the knowledge I get out of them. Things relating to more of the legal aspects of business and so forth that usually you would lean heavily on HR to tell you. I know that I still will have to at work because we have our own rules, but the more I know the better decisions I can make is the way I am looking at it, big picture.

Enough

I think that is enough out of me for the day. Have to get my ass off of the computer and get some things started and/or done. We need to get Oggy's nails clipped today which I know is not going to be any fun for the little guy. They have gotten long so I know it will pinch a little when they do it since they will most likely bump / cut his quick a little. He is a good boy and strong so even though it will not be any fun for him and he might be a little sore after, in the long run he will feel a lot better and be able to walk more on his pads like he is supposed to vs. now, he is putting a lot of weight on his nails that are curled under.

Have a great holiday if you are off today. If not, just keep your head down and get through the work day the bet that you can knowing that all of us suckers that have the day off will be back to work in the morning joining your commute and so on.
