I have to be honest, it's getting scarier and more realistic every day that it gets closer to her birth. First and foremost I want everything to go smooth, have Cicely not have a terrible experience and of course baby come out with no issues other than being happy and healthy joining us. There are so many variables that I just don't know how they managed to do it back in the day. Obviously that is the reason that birth was so risky and so many women died during labor as well as many of the babies.
Thankfully with modern technology there are enough eyes and ears on everything that they can generally find out if there will be any issues beforehand. Then if there are any of the surprise things that come up, we have a full staff of surgeons, nurses and everything in between to support whatever mom and baby need.
Anyway, that is how my morning is starting. A great way actually, getting to hear my daughters heartbeat - what an awesome way to start any day that's for sure! Heck depending on how she is sitting in there we may even get to do an ultrasound which means that I will get to see her! That would just make my day, I am pretty sure it would make Cicely's as well. She has been working so hard both at work and growing a baby. She needs some reassurance and happy thoughts in the next coming weeks - I know she is just as nervous as I am about all of this, if not more. No worries though my sweetheart - I will be there for you both every step of the way.
**Update: Zero dilation at this point so that is totally ok and nothing to worry about. The baby is facing down as she should be so that is great. Maybe next week the doctor can get in there a little further and better check for any dilation. Ecstatic to hear its all going as it should be though!
Macaron Madness
So as you can tell from today's photo someone had a big box of assorted macaron's recently. That person would be Cicely, which was probably obvious even if you had not read the description of today's photo.
These were made at a bakery in New York called Dana's bakery. They are made with a combination of classic French techniques blended with American flavors (more on the flavors to follow). The shells area a crisp meringue and smothered between is a flavorful filling. Now that your mouth is probably watering along with mine let me tell you what flavors are in this assortment.
The flavors are as follows, in no specific order: Thin mint, red velvet, chocolate molten mac, orange creamsicle, peanut butter and jelly, S'mores, cookie dough, fruity cereal (yea no joke!!), birthday cake, cup of Joe, key lime and last but not least, jelly doughnut. So there you have it, that is all of the flavors Cicely has to choose from as her cravings pop back up over the next couple of weeks. I think the hardest part for her is going to be deciding what to try, what to save and what flavor is her favorite. I hope you enjoy them Cizzle, love you lots!
Step-Mom Surgery
So I could not remember if my step-mom, Cyndi, was scheduled for a quick out patient surgery yesterday or today. She had some scar tissue in her sinus area that was causing her problems with both infections and trouble with the feeling of a stuffed up nose.
Anyway, thankfully she texted me yesterday afternoon to let Cicely and I know that her surgery went well and that she was at home resting. Great news to hear that's for sure! Any type of surgery is always scary and you never know what little things can pop up during the procedure that the doctors did not or could not have planned for.
Thankfully everything went as planned and now she just has to recover for a few days and then determine if it helps her - let's hope it does! From the sounds of the surgery it was no fun at all, but what surgery is? I figure a little pain for a lifetime of feeling good is worth it. Here's to hoping that it was worth the little bit of pain and you don't have to think about it again!
With That
I think that is about it for today's entry. It's Friday and I, as usual, have a lot of things that I want to get done this weekend as well as many things that I have no choice but to get done before baby arrives. I want to build the bassinet, maybe get the high chair set up and that sort of thing. Once done I want to be able to work on my 3D printer build and a few other projects that I have been putting off for the past couple
Cicely has her baby shower tomorrow over at her parents house. I think she will have a really good time once she gets into the groove and sees everyone there. I know she is a little nervous and feels odd being the center of attention when it comes to things like this but I say enjoy the hell out of it and have a blast. It's your day and everyone is there because they want to share it with you and help to warm welcome baby into our lives - that is an awesome thing that not everyone receives.
Have a happy and safe Friday everyone!
Photo: This is the box of Macaron that I bought Cicely for her Valentine gift last week - the photo just does not do them the justice they deserve. The bummer part is that the company messed up and did not ship them in time so she did not get them until Tuesday. What is funny though; while at CVS the other night she was talking about "craving them lately" so it worked out perfectly!
