2 Minutes
So this morning in class is the big day for everyone. We have to each give our 2 minute presentation to the entire class. I knew what I was going to do for mine, well I had a couple ideas of what I was going to do, but ended up making it themed to Valentines Day and the proper way to tie a necktie.
I plan to sort of do a whole skit where I talk about hurrying home because the wife is waiting and we have reservations for dinner. I first try to get away with a clip-on necktie but it does not fly. So I run back into the bedroom, scour the closet for a normal tie and run back out while my wife is tapping her watch signifying we are running late.
I proceed to try and remember the technique to tie the tie but have no luck. That is when I show the class the quick way and that they have been doing it wrong, or at least the hard way all of these years. I summarize and that is that, 1 minute and 48 seconds average presentation time.
....and I had to go last; I suppose I can look at it as "save the best for last". Let's hope that I am able to keep everyone awake and not thinking about lunch right after my presentation.
All done with my class and it was well worth the time investment of 2 days. I received my first of 10 certificates and am on my way to my final management certification I am working toward.
Drinks & Finger Food
So last night after class I went over to the local pub and had some drinks and food with the rest if the leadership team. It was a lot of fun and really helped me to know the group I will be a part of now.
One thing that I learned is that they can all drink and hold their liquor like the best of them. Thankfully so can I and was able to keep up all night, well until just after 8:00 anyway which was more than enough for me. I probably would have drank more but I had to get home to figure out my presentation for today.
Anyway it was a good time getting to know everyone and I am now that much more comfortable around them all as a leader.
Does It
