A.M. Workout

So today started out like most days used to a few years back that is with a morning workout. I have a ton of meetings today so rather than assume I will be able to make it out of the office and down to the gym I figured it would be in my best interest to get a workout in first thing this morning.

I actually used to do this all the time. I had a New Year's resolution, something I never make, but I did this particular year just for the heck of it. The resolution was to do cardio every single day 365 days in a row no matter where I was at, how I felt, or what excuses I could possibly come up with.

At the end I ended up making my goal but I will tell you that I will never do it again. It was extremely difficult even for me and I work out pretty much every day. Today for some reason gave me a instant flashback to the days of getting bundled up to go into the garage to work out or run on the treadmill. Once complete of course like anyone will tell you it feels great. Don't get me wrong it feels great in the afternoon as well and I usually work out at work but jump starting the day this way is always nice. I may have to start doing it more often like I use to and then if I get my afternoon work out it's just a bonus.

Race Season

Today in my email inbox I received a notification of my kart clubs kick-off meeting for the year. They have had other meetings but this is the one where we can pick up our new keys for the track and so on. To me it was always the start of the season.

I am not racing anymore of course but I still think about it all of the time. It was a big part of my life for many years both motocross and kart racing and it was a great deal of fun. I met a lot of amazing people and had a really good time.

The funny part about racing at an amateur or club racer level, is I don't think I have ever trained so hard or spent so much money to win multiple championships. I guess in the end it's still pretty bad ass because you are awarded a jacket and a crystal trophy, something I will have for the rest of my life and can brag about to my daughter. She may not think it's as cool as a boy might but you never know. I will still tell her all the stories about how fast her dad was....wait, still is..

All-in-all These are some of the most expensive jackets and trophies I have ever "bought". But I would do it all again in a heartbeat, given the chance.

Not Much Else

Otherwise it's a pretty bland day and not a whole lot of new stuff rabble about. Work as mentioned is going to be filled with some meetings, long ones at that and not much more. I did have to sign up for some classes yesterday for leadership that my company puts on but those don't take place until June. The only downside is they are three days worth of classes all day each day.

I guess it could be worse and after-all the company is floating the bill for these three classes and paying me to go so I really can't complain.

Photo: Much colder than it looks but still a nice day!
