</Work Week>

Friday is here so the weekend is just around the corner. Few hours, OK, several hours of work ahead and then it's whatever we do or don't want to do for a couple days. I would like to go for a quick bike ride tonight after work, then get up tomorrow and hit the road for my Saturday long distance ride. If I do that tomorrow I am not sure where I will go this week but have some ideas.

Ride

I was kicking around the idea of going from my house south to The other end of the valley, past work and towards this other area that goes by the name of Washoe Valley. There is a popular area that cyclist and probably runners as well make their destination. It's called Bowers Mansion. I am not sure if it's open any longer or has closed over the years.

I can remember going there for field trips when on school. They had a giant pool with diving boards that were sky high, or at least seemed that way at my age. In general the place was awesome and a lot of fun to hang out at when younger.

No swimming for me this time should I make that my destination although it would sure feel nice after a long ride to get there. Instead it will be nothing more than my destination and turn-a-round point. Otherwise I would probably keep going until the road ended.

It's a weird thing that happens when on the bike. The longer you ride and the further you go the harder it becomes to stop or make a u-turn to head back home. I bet this is the same for those that like to run and jog as well.

I would probably go much further more times than not if it wasn't for the fact that either my ass gets tired, I have a fear of running out or not bringing enough water and food or the most common is that my legs and body simply say "OK that is enough for today, we are done". At that point it becomes more of a mental game than anything else to keep going.

Cubed

Today at work I have a few meetings on the calendar to go to and a bunch that are optional. I want to do my best to get my ass to the gym today as well. Yesterday I slacked really bad and not only missed the gym but did not ride after work. Not a huge deal because I workout and ride as much as I can but when you are used to going more often it makes you, me, feel like a bump on a log.

It's alright, gotta listen to your body once in a while and do what is best. Anyway back to cubed life - I think it should be a good day, productive like the majority of the week has been and a good way to end the week.

With summer coming to an end we need to take some time off soon. Cicely's mom will be here in a week or so and we have to take some DTO for that as well. I guess I don't "have to" but it gives me an excuse to use some days. More on that later once I figure it out. I wanted us to take kiddo to daycare one day and head up to Tahoe for the day. Possibly do some stand up paddle boarding and learn what it's all about. While doing so, work on our non-existent tans and clear our minds of life's distractions.

Hopefully that works out for us and we can do something like that before summer is gone. If not there is always next summer and the possibility to be able to do those things with Zoey as well instead of leaving her at daycare. Mom and dad need time away but we want to enjoy time with her as well and expose her to fun things.

Enough Said

That will do it for this entry I think, well unless something amazing happens that I simply need to hit down. Our annual Hot August Nights classic car events have been going on around town and there seem to be less cars this year, unless it actually starts this week and we are only seeing the start.

Next will be the motorcycle event that goes by the name of Street Vibrations. I think they should have it in July though. Every year it gets rained on it seems. I think that would suck. If I was part of the event and it happened like clock work I would probably not participate every year. Sure that makes me a fair weather rider but it's the cleanup that I can't stand, the getting dirty and wet part is actually a lot of fun and separated the boys from the men and hardcore from the soft.

OK enough out of me or I will go on about this stuff for another 3 or 4 paragraphs! That is without even mentioning the stupid Burning Man festival that is also coming up. Neat event when it first started, not so much anymore, instead more of a cash cow for those that run it. Yea leaving my feelings on that one alone. Maybe I will get on that soapbox another time and see exactly who I can rub a little wrong and ultimately piss off!

Have a great Friday and safe weekend!
