At times this is great because it can help you to prepare, at other times it will only ruin your weekend because of worry for that next week and what things are already on the horizon or to-do lists. For me, like others, I am OK with having things to look forward to as well as get a game plan together for those things I would put on a "worry list" so long as one never outweighs the other every week. That can get old and can quickly turn into major anxiety and stress.
Cycling
Last night when we left work it was of course raining with some thunder boomers and lightening once again. Some areas along the way the rain was coming down fairly hard, with big summer size rain drops. In other areas it was more of a casual mist. No matter, it was water and would be the thorn in my side as far as getting miles in on the bike.
Not the case thankfully. While it was wet and humid at the house, it was not raining and had not rained in a little while from the looks of the streets. I just needed to wait for them to dry up a little bit more and I could possibly be on my way - just had to hurry, dark was not that far away and I do not have a mount for my bike headlight at the moment.
While killing some time waiting for the streets to dry up a little I figured I would mess around with some video editing that I wanted to do from the other night. Doing so only made me tired after the long work day and I continued to dose off on the couch. I finally gave in, rolled to the side with a pillow and took a nap, waking up only 45 minutes later in a bit of a panic hoping I had not missed my opportunity to ride.
I did not, it was still light out for another hour or so and if I hurried I could use every minute of it. I did, I went out and took a ride, the weather was nice - although a little windier than I would have liked but when is it not windy around my area after 2 in the afternoon? I should be use to that by now but I am not, I hate the dam wind.
Anyway, I was able to get in just under 11 miles before dark, and actually it was dark when I got home which kinda sucked because I was without a headlight. Well I do have a headlight but no headlight mount that will fit the bike - but that is an entirely separate topic.
Happy to have gotten a ride in and I feel better for it today. I was missing going after only 2 days so I am curious how winter is going to go for me? I need to get on the ball and figure out something to take the place of not being able to ride over the winter months.
I mean I can when the days are cold and not wet or snow, but even then it may be tough at times to get my ass out there and freeze my nuts off to put in miles. Who knows, I like the cold most times if I have the proper gear on so maybe my body will jump into high gear and kick some ass in the winter.
See Ya' Tomorrow
It's that time again and I need to get my butt headed out the door. I have a fairly light day at work as far as meetings and pre-made agendas so that means I can work on those things that I have not been able to work on. Things such-as getting my PC backed up before I get my new laptop workstation, taking care of some of the digital paperwork that I have been wanting and meaning to do for weeks to better track where my team is with workloads and related.
Then of course it will be a visit to the gym this afternoon to take care of some cardiovascular training as I always do on weekdays - the elliptical and I are good friends and worst enemies depending on the week and/or day. Throw in some strength training and I am set at that point for the remainder of the afternoon. So until tomorrow - have a good one!
Photo: Needed a photo for today and did not really have anything. Leaving work I see my bag of Dum-Dums lollipops sitting there and so they became the obvious choice!
