Today is the anniversary of the day that I married my best friend and companion and here we are going to work - what the hell is up with that? No big deal really we would probably not do anything but kickback at home and relax all day anyhow. Nothing wrong with that, but no reason to use a day of DTO when we have her mom coming in to town to visit in about a week and a half.
Journey So Far
Wow does time fly by! It seems like it was not that long ago that we were planning our wedding and being surprised with a Caribbean vacation for our honeymoon from my dad and step-mom. Shortly thereafter, well several months actually, but not that long still - we would find out that we were going to be parents and our new lives together would be even more special +1.
Mountains of fear, anxiety and everything in-between would be a part of our daily thought process and conversations. Classes to learn about child birth, planning for the baby room and getting as much "stuff" as possible to prepare for the big day.
The big day finally came and all of the preparations, while helpful in many ways, would not help us with what was next. Cicely would have complications and severe preeclampsia and they would not be able to get her blood pressure down for nearly a week.
We would spend this week in the hospital, me feeding Zoey in the nursery and bringing her to see Cicely as much as I could during the first couple days.
As she improved I was able to bring Zoey to her even more and eventually we would be discharged at nearly midnight and still needing to pick up prescriptions from the local drugstore and able to start our lives together at home, where we should be at that time.
Forward
Looking forward I see many more years of us building our family, continuing to learn about one another and enjoying our time together. The future is never guaranteed, but one guarantee you do have that is if you are who you are meant to be with, focusing on the future together you will find happiness and success in the manner you deserve.
I look forward to the challenges and don't always need to look around the corner to get a sneak peek at what may be around every one of them - not an easy thing to do for someone as inquisitive and a planner like myself.
Sum
We have been together for 15 years and now married for 2 years and parents to Zoey for just over 4 months. Oggy being our first kid, even if a fuzzy kid, he taught us so much more than he will ever realize about being parents. I only hope we can help him and teach him 1/2 as much in return.
Thank You
Thanks for everything Cizzle! Me, Oggy and Zoey love you very much. Everything you do everyday to make sure we are a cohesive family means a half a world to us. You accepting the same in return is the other half of the world.
I for one can't wait to experience the next year and every year after....
Photo: Awesome spray paint art from Cicely's sister Miranda for our wedding gift. She is very talented and we were so happy and surprised the night she gave it to us. Yes I remember that night as well, it was after drinks were served and minutes before having an Italian dinner with Cicely's entire family, my extended family in downtown Sparks. Great night, guy on the piano and all.
