Cycling Slacker

Alright so this really sucks in a big way. It's now Wednesday and I have not ridden a single mile on my bike. Part of it is because the weather was crap on Monday and raining so rather than need to do an hour or more cleanup after I chose to not ride, thinking I would for sure yesterday.

Nope, did not happen. Yesterday I was exhausted by the end of the day and hours before leaving the studio even. Not a good sign when I want to put miles on the bike once home. Heck even at the gym yesterday I only did 40 minutes of elliptical and called it a day, no strength training at all. Figured I would save my energy for the ride last night.

Well the ride never happened. On the way home from work, after picking up Zoey from daycare, I could not keep my eyes open. Thankfully Cicely drive so I could rest. I figured this would be perfect and give me the boost I needed to go. Nope, I sat on the couch with Zoey and Oggy for a few minutes while Cicely took care of a few things and the next thing I knew I was waking up 2 hours later and it was basically dark outside.

Today I hope to have a better day and be able to take the ride when I get home. After my awesome ride on Sunday the last thing I want to do is start missing weekdays and not keep my stamina up to par for long rides. Tonight I think I need to just go, no matter what or how tired I feel because even if it's not a record breaking ride never really is or is intended to be I still have fun and feel great after I get back.

Tonight

So we will see how today goes, how tired I am after work and whether or not my motivation is hidden under my desire / need to take a nap on the couch.

My goal is to simply ignore any negative vibes my body feels regarding going and putting on my "big boy shorts" - aka; my cycling shorts and get-r-done!

Otherwise

With that there is not a lot else going on this week. I did order my team some swag from our studio store and paid for it out of my own pocket. Sure it's nothing more than $50 or so of magnets and key gains with our studio logo on them but if it help team members feel proud to be a part of the studio then it's worth it to me. Not to mention it's also to thank them for their hard work through the management transitions and other happenings around the studio and company.

Oh, we did announce our new engineering manager yesterday to the teams. He will be starting the second week of August, the 11th if I remember correctly from our conversation.

So far only have heard positive things from people that have worked with him indirectly or directly on games over the years. It's funny, way back in 2006 I actually worked on a game with him. It was the first multilayer display technology game on our platform. The title going on it that we were working on was Indiana Jones. It was a lot of fun and while I don't recall how good or bad the game did, it was a cool game!

OK enough out of me for one day. Hopefully your week has been great so far as it's now midweek you only have a few days to either work it out or move on and try again next week. Either way, there are worst things like death, so enjoy the time you have with what you have and what you are doing!

Photo: Yep, it's raining again outside. My hope is that it misses the Spanish Springs area and I am able to go for a ride tonight. Sure, I am beat but it always make me feel better.
