Cicely, Zoey & Oggy

So this morning I woke up to a birthday present wrapped and waiting for me on the counter where I drink my morning coffee and go through news on the internet, check work schedules and so on. A couple hours later I was given the "go-ahead" to open it and so I did.

To my surprise it was EXACTLY what I had really wanted / needed. A set of the Jaybird Bluetooth headphones. I do own other pairs of Bluetooth headphones, the Dr. Dre Beats for example. While nice, they are way too big to put on and wear in the gym and stuff. I have tried to wear them a few times and it just does not work, really they are not that heavy either - but do sound great!

So giant hugs and kisses went out to those 3 for the special gift and thinking of me on my birthday, that means a lot to me and I really appreciate it - they will come in handy and get a lot of use!

Today's Ride

So my ride today was a-friggin'-maze-ing! I am so happy that Cicely did not mind taking care of Zoey for the day while I went on a 4+ hour ride. What? A 4+ hour what? What the hell do you do for 4+ hours on a bike and how is that fun on my birthday you ask?

I have been itchin' to go on this ride for quite some time now. Every since I heard about it the thing has been in the back of my mind and something I hoped to be able to accomplish one day. I did not think that the day would be so soon to be honest because while its not the most difficult ride there is, its not a walk in the park either.

I could go into specific details but I wont - for one, its my birthday and I do what I want remember? And for another, unless you are into riding and reading others ride info or just want to know, you would probably still be bored. To me its similar to looking at someones vacation photo's, video's and souvenirs. While cool at times, I would rather be there myself vs. reliving someones experience.

Anyway the ride was from Spanish Springs to Verdi, just before the California and Nevada border. The entire route that I planned was just over 60 miles, 62.33 miles to be exact with just under 3000 feet of elevation changes throughout the loop. I was able to complete the ride in 4 hours which is a little bit on the "Sunday Stroll" (aka slow) side of things but speed was not my goal, my goal was to finish the ride and do-so in one piece and I did.

I look forward to doing the ride again in the future and have some ideas for adding a little bit of distance to it as well as stepping into California and back while at the turn-around point. As I mention below with the photo, I am only feet away from being in California, then only feet from being in Nevada - its really cool so I will have to be a nerd and do something where I am standing in both states at the same time or something.

Blow Out The Candles

Alright, with that I am calling this happy birthday post good 'nuff and blowing out the candles on it. It's been a really good day all around and while I am not happy getting another year older, I would not change the experiences and people in my life up until now, yes even those that were considered "the bad ones" because in a weird sort of way they played a part in where I am at now - don't forget that, its all linked together one way or another.
