Sold, 6.4 Billion

The big news for today is that my company finally announced they they have officially sold for 6.4 billion to a UK based company that was interested in us when the news of an acquisition or sale initially leaked out to the public.

All of us in the local offices have no real idea what the future will hold for us but one can only assume that it should be "business as usual" at least for the foreseeable future. The initial acquisition will take 9-12 months to go through all of the legal and jurisdictional outlets. Once all of that goes through then I think we will start to better understand the direction or future that we will be a part of long term.

For me, I hope that things stay relatively the same or improve. I would hope that there would be no mass liquidation or anything like that. I want to continue building and developing games and/or managing a great group of employees that does exactly that as well.

I suppose many are uncertain of policies of the new company as well. Especially since they are not US based, they may have other ideas and methodologies that do or do not jive with our current culture and day-to-day business practices. Not that this is a bad thing, it's only more unknowns that we will have to wait for answers to.

Anyway, that is about enough on that topic as I am certain it will not be the last time that I feel the need to rabble about it on here. Let's hope for a positive outcome, future growth and a fruitful career with growth potential with the news of this new acquisition.

Surgery, 10:00

So this morning my sister goes in for surgery at 10 AM. I am not sure what hospital she is at or if she is at a surgery center since those are more commonly used now. Heck my last couple surgeries have been at one of those instead of a typical hospital outpatient setting.

Anyway, not getting into details out of respect for her privacy of course but will say that we are thinking of her and looking forward to a positive outcome and her getting back on track to her usual self.

Sick Kiddo

Zoey had a little bit of a rough night last night while trying to sleep. Her stuffy nose and slightly congested chest was annoying her most of the night so she would get woken up, cry a little bit and wake up then doze back off for a while. The pattern would continue like that throughout the entire night.

This morning she is trying to be happy and her usual self but is still under the weather and it's apparent. I am just proud of how she tries so hard to act like her normal self for the most part. At times when it gets so annoying that she wants to scream, she does and that is OK. Whatever helps get her healthy.

She took a long warm bath last night and that seemed to really help her. She did not want to get out and that was after nearly 15 minutes in the water. Any longer and she would have been a shriveled up little grape.

Cicely put some saline drips in Zoey's nose this morning and that helped her a bit as well I think. Zoey did not seem to mind them and was able to breath and clear out her sinuses a little more after and sleep - exactly what her little body needs to get over this.

Fires & Flash Floods

Yesterday on the way home from work we saw the billows of smoke coming off the mountains to the North West. Something those of us in the area do not like to see during the summer months. This time it was a fire that was sparked by lightening. Thankfully there was not "too much" wind to push it along and help fuel the dry mountain.

We were alerted about flash flooding yesterday and again today as well which is a fairly common summertime occurrence around here. We get these intense summer downpours that the ground can't soak up and the gutters and drainage systems can't keep up with either. So in return we get flooding.

This afternoon the weather guessers are guessing that there will be thunderstorms and heavy rain so we will see if that happens or not. The rain is nice, love the smell and sound of it, plus it cools everything off. What I don't like is the flooding and the fact that I am now unable to go for a ride after work if it's raining. I mean I can, but I am more of a fair weather rider (aka pussy). I will ride in the heat and cold, just don't want to be soaking wet if I can avoid it.

Pencils Down

OK that is all I have to rabble about for today. I have a feeling that there will be a little damage control needed today because of the press release about the acquisition / sale / merger that is taking place. Honestly at this point they know just as much as I do. Sometimes simply hearing that from me is more than enough to calm their nerves and anxiety so that is time well spent in my book.

Have a great day today, what ever it is that you are doing. Be thankful for what you have not bitter about what you don't have and smell those roses once in a while, it helps to clear the smell of shxt from our sinuses that tends to be more prevalent in today's society.

Photo: Nothing related to anything, I found this yesterday and thought it was cleverly named. I wonder if it's any good? I have a hunch that it is.
