Spoonfed

Big night last night at home. While sitting on the couch relaxing for a few minutes after work Zoey continued to reach for potato chips while Cicely was snacking on a bag before dinner.

We looked at one another with the "are you thinking what I am thinking" look and yes, yes we were. That is when Cicely said "maybe she's ready to attempt eating solid food". OK then, no reason to wait and no better time than the present.

Sweet Potatoes & Apple

I washed up, Cicely grabbed Zoey and brought her into the kitchen. We faced her toward me and she had a look of "what the heck is going on guys"?.

First I used just the spoon so she could better understand what was going on and what we were trying to do. She did great and had no gag reflex or fear of the spoon, awesome news!

Next it was the big test of tests - food on the spoon. I put a little sweet potatoes and apple mixture on the spoon, the pink one of course, and had Cicely grab my iPhone to take video of it.

Her first bite went from spoon to baby without a hitch, maybe a little bit of a strange look on her face from the new texture and flavor but otherwise perfect! A little bit of spit up food came up as normal and I caught it with the spoon, shoveled it back in and down it went!

Total success in my book and we even have video to prove it and show family. Great job baby girl we are so proud of you at only 4 months old! At the same time it's a little scary seeing you eat food vs a bottle bu awesome no matter.

Gift

So there you have it. Our gift for our wedding anniversary was from Zoey, she decided to eat solid baby food, well a couple bites anyway - and make outlet day! Thank you so much little one. We love you and all that you do to inspire is to be the best that we can.

Photo: Awesome spoons that Zoey's grandma Kay got her. They are really cool because if the food is too hot for baby then the spoon changes color to let you know. They worked really well and we think Zoey liked 'em too.
