Some days that can be much harder than you would imagine that it would be. Thankfully the past few months that has not been the case.
I am having a great time doing what I do now and am learning more and more every day that I am a part of the leadership team.
Photo: Nothing much to snap a photo of today so I am left with a shot of my after gym snack - my unopened salad, framed with a tiny white border.
The Ride
Last night I was lucky enough to be able to go on a 11+ mile bike ride about an hour after we got home from work. I was stoked to be able to do so because it was windy from about 2:00 in the afternoon and I did not think it was going to let up.
It finally did die down a decent amount by 7:30 PM or so and I said hell with it, got dressed and headed out. Although I don't like the night rides as much because I don't have a light for the bike yet and there are tons of bugs flying at my face, it was still a good one.
Thunder Storms
That brings us to tonight. I was at work about an hour or so after I was planning to leave and the predicted thunder storms and rain had not yet started. I am hoping that they will not and I will be able to head out for a ride tonight.
Tomorrow I will not be able to go to the gym because I will be doing interviews all day. Heck even today I had a less than ideal gym visit because someone was on the elliptical that I like to use.
There are 4 other elliptical machines to choose from but they are a different brand and style and for some reason tend to hurt my hips and lower back the way they move compared to other types.
Daycare
So I guess today at Zoey's daycare they had to fire one of the girls that works there (Shelby) because she was very vocal about one of the other babies. I heard that the baby was being a pain and she called the kid a twat one time and I think "a little asshole" another time.
While I can fully understand the frustration of the job at times you really need to be cut out for the position and not act that way around people's kids. While I suppose a warning would have been good enough this time I guess this was not the first event like this and the owners decided that this was the best resolution for the problem.
She is a really nice girl and seems to enjoy what she does for the most part so hopefully she finds something else soon and better manages her emotions when dealing with tough personalities that some children have.
Cruz
With that I am going to wrap it up for today and hope that Mother Nature plays nice and I am able to go for a pedal tonight and melt some additional fat off of my body. At the same time the big hill I always start my ride out on is still kicking my ass every time and I really want to get better at it.
My speed and technique have improved a lot already that's for sure, but I am still a solid 2.5 to 3.5 minutes behind the top 10 to 20 riders. Obviously they have probably been riding for many years and it's only been months for me. No excuses, I want to ramp up my performance as much as I can and continue to grow my abilities. I will just have to figure out what to do to keep my stamina up over the winter because I don't want to start all over again next summer.
Otherwise tomorrow is Friday and I am in meetings from morning until night because of the interviews I am a part of. Should be a good experience for me and I am glad to be taking part in the selection process. Especially since I have to work with this person fairly closely from here on out. It's not my first set of interviews. I have done many of them back when I was a team lead. These are just a little different because they are for a new manager vs. an individual contributor. No matter, it will work out in the end and it's up to us to make the best choice / fit for the studio.
