Lost It, Found It

Yesterday was a bit of a rushed day all around. From the start of the day with Cicely and Zoey trying to get out of the house to get to the doctors appointment downtown to Cicely thinking that her car was stolen from the parking garage.

Then once at work it was non-stop most of the day up until around 3:00 when I finally had enough of the pace and decided it was prime time to grab my gym shoes and clothes and head down to the fitness center for a nice long session on the elliptical then throw some weights around for a little while to burn off some of the pressures of the day.

Part of the day was self induced of course because I scheduled a meeting for my team just after lunch. It was the only time that I could really get everyone together and be able to schedule the meeting room so I took advantage of it. I hate asking everyone to make it back to a meeting only minutes after lunch - it can be a real pain in the ass I know. But thankfully everyone made it back and we were able to get the entire team meeting accomplished in just shy of an hour - record time for us.

Fitness Center

So as mentioned I did go down and get a nice long cardio session in on my favorite elliptical machine around 3:00. I was considering going much longer but was worried that a lot more people may show up in the gym to workout around that time - usually I go much earlier so I know the crowd that shows up and what equipment most will use. We have a 30 minute courtesy rule on the equipment so everyone can use it and we don't get gym rat hogs on certain machines.

Because of that I ended up only going for 40 minutes total - a 35 minute session with the usual 5 minute cool-down at the end. Felt really good and the gym was actually not very crowded that time of the day at all surprisingly.

Off the elliptical and onto the weights I started doing my chest and roman chair crunches in between chest sets of 15 reps. This is always a nice combination because it does not weaken my lower back and chance me getting injured for a couple days because of a stupid twitch or something and end up pissing off my back. Anyway, I was still feeling a little rushed and watching the clock more than I normally would because I knew that I had to get some things done before getting out of the office for the day. Based on that, I cut the weight session of my workout a little shorter than usual.

Back in the locker room and getting cleaned up and changed I was moving my backpack around quite a bit to make room for others that were showing up for their afternoon workouts - I guess around 4:00 is when the second big group of gym rats show up. I show up between 1 and 2 as do the same guys and gals everyday - so we are usually gone by the time the second group gets in. Same thing in the morning there is an early crowd, a 9:00 'ish crowd then the lunch crowd.

Lunch being the absolute worst time to go because not only is it packed with all of the regulars, but you get those that think they can get in shape in a week before a holiday weekend. Or the place is packed with the resolutioners the first part of the year, the summer plumper crowd right around spring trying to get ready for bathing suit season and so on.

Anyway back to my point. I was rushing and moving around my stuff more than I normally would and was not very focused on what I was doing - other than trying to get out of there before I had someones dirty ass in my face or a smelly rat coming back in from a run. The locker rooms are fairly small so it does not take much to make it stink and uncomfortable.

That is an entirely separate entry I could have one day - the fact that so many men stink, I mean stink really fuckin' bad. How in the hell women every find them attractive I will never know. I say this with confidence as I wash often and keep myself tidy. I am sure there are days I am riper than others, who isn't, but some of these peeps are just plain gross - anyway, enough about that for now!

So I was finished changing, grabbed my stuff and headed back to the studio. Stopping to take a photo of our new wall just outside of it that has our logo and is painted bright blue. Back at my desk I started working and going about my business. Cicely was already heading out - she had to get Zoey and go over to the baby store to get her a red, white and blue outfit for dress-up day at school today. So I was chatting back and forth with her over text and looking at photos of the clothes she was considering getting her.

Finally she made a decision on one and I told her I was heading out and would see her at home. Out of habit I reached down to feel for my Fitbit when I realized it was not there - oh shxt? Is it still attached to my gym shorts? Nope - it is not. Well that can mean only one thing. When I picked up my backpack at the gym it must have been sitting on it, flung and who knows where it is now - fuck, fuck, fuck! Not only are they expensive but I did not want to lose my steps for the day, nor did I want to have to pay to get a new one - dammit! That will teach me to rush around, grrrr!

Well my only other option at this point was to go see if it was in the locker room still or if someone found it and set it on the gym managers desk. I doubt it, but it was worth a try - so off I went. I got down to the locker room, looked immediately at the bench top that I changed at and there was no Fitbit to be found. I walked over to the side of the bench, looked down and whatta you know - there was my Fitbit waiting for me on the floor, just out of sight enough that no-one would see it and on its side so you would never know it was there unless you were looking for it. Holy crap was I stoked to have found it there.

I of course snapped a photo first things first, knowing that I would make it the topic of today's post. Then I reached down and grabbed it. The screen lit up and said "Let's Go" with my name after. It was perfect and funny at the same time. I guess I should mention - the Fitbit has a little message if it has been off of you for a few and you put it back on - little motivational things like "Do It" or "You Rock", "Get Going" and so on. So it was funny and entirely appropriate that it read "Let's Go" when I picked it up off the floor. As though it had been waiting the 2 hours in the gym for me to come back and get it, hook it on my shorts and head home.

Thanks big time to the universe and karma points for helping me to get my device back in my possession I really appreciate that. I will be sure to continue doing the same for others as I always have done and build some karma points back up as well.

Road Bike Session

I made it home in time to go for a ride last night and the wind was not too bad, it was there, but nothing like the night before. Unfortunately one thing led to another and I was unable to go and decided that rather than rush out the door "just to do it" that I would wait and get some quality rides in the rest of this week and weekend instead. I don't like cramming it all into a few days, but it's better than going, not being focused and getting hurt.

I need to get my ass out there so I can get my 50 miles in for the week. It figures that the week I challenge myself to do so ends up being one of my worst weeks for riding to date! I should be able to manage though and get the miles in. I need to work on the 250km for the month as well. At the same time decide if I can manage 1 single ride of 80 miles to get that award on my Strava account. Ahh so many things I want to do, so little time and daylight - focus, and one-by-one, will be the way to accomplish them all - right? Cheers to my success (heck, fingers crossed for luck as well)

OK, Whew....

That is all I have to offer for today - kind of a crazy day yesterday between Cicely thinking she lost her car - well that it was stolen. Then me losing my Fitbit in the gym and finding it just as she did once she got off the elevator on the correct floor.

Ahh, life isn't it fun and good at keeping us on our toes at all times? It was definitely a different kind of day and while I can appreciate that, I would ask that today be a little bit more normal,,,,please? So with that, have a great day - keep an eye out for the crazy drivers and people trying to get to the lake or out of town for the holiday weekend. I know I will be on alert while riding the bikes because of the extra traffic and people thinking about things other than driving while they are in the car.

Not sure about taking Zoey to go see the fireworks tomorrow night. I honestly don't think she will be awake for them and really will have no idea what is going on at the same time other than all of the loud noises up in the sky. We will see, but I am pretty sure that we will just stay in this year and take her next year when she will better understand what is going on - if only just a little bit.

Photo: Here is where I found my Fitbit in the gym. I am super thankful that it was still there and that no-one stepped on it or took it.
