Collective Bargaining

Well it's been a nice few weeks without the extra burden of going to school. That time is behind me now because today it's back to getting my education game on! Today's class is focused on the collective Bargaining process and techniques.

Even though we don't use these at my organization and we sign an agreement that we will not join any type of union, it's still something good to learn for other companies that have structures in place.

I am finally getting closer and closer to the end of the 2 programs I am doing but these fine few classes are taking the longest because the schedule has them spread out quite a bit. I will not be finished with everything until just before Thanksgiving. That is a bit of a hard pill to swallow - seems so far off in the distance.

No matter, head down and focused will remain the goal and how I will make it through. Thankfully I have all but one class paid for already so it won't ding the savings account as it has been the rest of the year. Money well spent of course, but money I am out none-the-less.

All said and done I think I am only out 5 or $6,000 but that still stings. I would like to spend that cash taking Cicely, Zoey and I somewhere tropical or fun, hopefully we will be able to do that sometime anyway.

Lunch

Breaking for lunch, its a nice light weight salad again which for me anyway is something much more appealing than the spaghetti, lasagne and other heavy dishes that are at times provided. While the salad has some "fattening" things along with it, such-as the dressing, walnuts, cranberries and the nasty garlic cheese bread it's still an ideal choice for me. One pain in the ass part is trying to get it all into my logbook where I keep track of my calories, food intake and related.

So far I am doing awesome - although I think I could always do better, but that is jut me being hard and critical on myself. Something I have always done and taken very seriously as it's ultimately my health and life longevity. But I will leave that alone for now as it's an entire discussion on it's own that would take up pages and pages.

Kiddo

So Cicely took Zoey to the doctor today and found that she has both a slight ear infection as well as a slight lung infection. FUCK, makes me so mad at myself that we did not go to the doctors office the other day as we had planned to but decided to save the money and not take her. Our feelign was that she was doing very well and was not in need of the visit and we would simply be wasting money that could be better spend another time when she really needs to see the doctor.

Today we decided to take her to be on the safe side because if she was to get worse over the weekend and we had to go to one of the emergency places or the place that we went to the first couple weeks she was home from the hospital - I did not have a real positive opinion of it. While I think that they probably meant very well, I also feel that the place was less professional and inviting than I would expect from such a business.

I have been to many vets, heck Oggy's vet, is much more nice than this facility is. No matter, so long as the people there are top, I guess I should care less about the over-all environment and feel. Although both were lagging a little bit, but it served its purpose, unfortunately for a steep price of several hundred dollars.

So in the end Zoey will have to do some breathing treatments which is this mist that they will put into her nose and help her to get her nasal passages open and help out her lung infection so it does not turn into something severe such-as pneumonia for example. She will also have to take a prescription for a while to help clear it all up more quickly.

Now my next concern is if this will begin opening up things for her to have allergies to such-as my allergies to medications. Let's hope that she takes more after Cicely and is not allergic to little to anything - that would be my ultimate hope.

Alright

That will do it for today. We are supposed to have more weather this afternoon in the form of thunderstorms, rain and flash flooding. I am hoping that it will all be done by the time I am out of school and will be able to then go for a nice bike ride.

I would like to go for a really long one this weekend. Shooting for at least one ride of 30+ miles but it would be awesome and make me extremely happy if I could do one that was more like 50+ miles. In reality though I think that one is more doubtful because of both my fitness abilities on the bike at the moment as well as the ability to find a ride like that in the area that would not involve so many climbs that my legs, specifically my quadriceps, would be dead shortly thereafter.

Photo: An idea has been proposed to split California into 6 separate states. No clue how realistic this is or if it would ever come to fruition, interesting though.

Another look at the potential split:

Last, how many see it actually panning out (tongue in cheek of course, although accurate):
