4 Month Vaccinations

So today is a bit of a busy, busy day for Cicely, myself as well as poor little Zoey. Starting with Zoey she has an appointment to go in and see the pediatrician to get her 4 month shots. She does not know what is coming but we do and it makes us feel really bad because it's 3 shots again and maybe an oral dose of something as well.

Zoey did outstanding last time and only cried for a few minutes when she was stuck in the leg with the initial injection. That little girl is much tougher than I would be getting shots in the upper leg! So proud of her and what a good girl she is - we are so lucky to have her!

Anyway, I am not able to go with Cicely today to take Zoey either. I have to be at my doctors appointment at 8:15 and Zoey's is at 10:30. That would be cutting it really close on a normal day. Today is not "normal" because I have to do interviews for an open position we have in the studio for an engineer manager which is the other crazy part of the day.

Interviews

So the interviews went really well at work today. We always seem to get so many top not notch applicants that it makes the entire process that much more difficult to choose just one.

Next week, starting on Monday I have 3 more interviews to take care of and then we will have to make a final decision on our candidate to come into the roll. As mentioned, so far everyone has been amazingly qualified and could walk right into the position no problem.

In the end it has to be a great fit with the teams personality, knowledge and the ways they are used to working in game development. Not the simplest of tasks but again nothing any of the candidates would not be able to handle.

Shots

Zoey had to go in today for her 4 month shots and an oral vaccination that they also will give her until a certain age. I was not able to be there but Cicely said that she did amazing just like before.

When Cicely picked her up from daycare tonight she was actually not in a very good mood and I don't blame her. Her legs are really sore I'm sure and she just does not feel very well.

According to the girls at daycare she has barely eaten today and they said that she has slept a lot which is actually a good thing because she needs her rest. All of which is pretty normal stuff after the kids have their shots from what we are told.

Cicely is going to stop on the way home and get some baby aspirin for Zoey and hopefully that will make her feel little bit better and help her get through the night without too much more pain.

It kind of sucks though because tomorrow it's just Zoey and I at home all day - Cicely will be at her annual fashion show. It's not a big deal really Zoey and I always have a good time together. I just worry because Cicely can easily put Zoey on the breast to calm her down and help pacify her - something I can't do.

No matter, it's all part of parenthood and what we signed up for. I just know Zoey does not understand what is going on of course and that breaks my heart.

On the bright side, we are one step closer because it's one more set of shots complete and now she doesn't have to get anymore until September. I wish it was no more for good but she needs them to be safe from bugs.

Otherwise

I think that will have to do it for today's entry. It's been a long Friday and I am beat. It's amazing how much energy it can take doing interviews all day long.

I was planning to go on a road bike ride tonight but it depends on my energy level. At the moment, I am so tired that I would rather take a nap and go for a nice long ride in the morning before Cicely's show. Not to mention it looks like it rained pretty good out at the house this afternoon because there are puddles and stuff showing signs of it

Generally when this happens there are puddles around the areas I ride plus there is a lot of gravel that gets kicked up into your face not fun - even less fun when it's getting darker out because I cant wear my sunglasses and all of the dirt and gravel is flung up into your mouth, eyes, face etc., it is far from a nice thing to deal with on a ride. More on the ride later though - we will see how it goes I may just get a huge burst of energy and go for a ride.

**Update: No big burst of energy, just the opposite to be honest so I ended up forcing myself to get out on the treadmill for 40 minutes or so and at least get my 10,000 steps in for the day. Otherwise I would have really felt like a lazy pile of poo. In the morning my goal is to go for a nice ride, maybe even upwards of 20+ miles if all goes as planned.
