Rain, Rain, Rain

Well it's Monday and I did not start the week off on the right foot. I mean I feel great other than being a little sore still from my ride on Saturday, climbing one of my biggest "all at once" ascents to date. I think the total elevation gain was something like just under 1700'. Usually that would be spread out over many miles but this was basically straight up for nearly an hour. I am not embarrassed to admit that I did have to stop for 3 rest breaks though. Totally okay to do, plus it gives me a goal of 2, 1 and/or zero rest stops in the future.

The only thing that has me a little gun shy is that I managed to get more crap in my tires on that ride than I have in my last several rides combined! Either the hill is not ridden much so the debris builds up or it's just the luck of the draw. The road is really rough in many areas as well which I think attributed to making several small divots in my tires.

Today I will look around on the web and see what tires everyone is riding and possibly order a set to try on for size. These may be just fine as is but I would like to have some on hand if nothing else for a spare.

Yesterday morning, had I gotten off of my ass to go for a long Sunday ride I would have either had to fix them before leaving which takes the wind right out of your sail, or had I not noticed (doubtful), fixed them out on the road.

I was glad I was at home this time because most of the little wire bits that were stuck in the tire I had to use tweezers to grab and pull them out. I think I will order a cheap pair of tweezers on Amazon next time I put in an order and keep them in my seat bag should I ever need to do this far away from the comfort of my awesome garage.

Rain

As you have probably guessed based on the title of my post today, it has been raining once again. The rain started over the night while we were sleeping and has not let up since. Off and on it will die down a little but over-all it's still coming down decent.

This makes for a great day to take a nap and hang out at home on the couch with Cizzle, Oggy and baby Zoey. Today that is not in the cards so we are going to have to work through it and make the best of the day.

I on the other hand am a little bummed because the rain means that I will be unable to go for a bike ride after work. I mean sure, I could go if I really wanted to but it is a bit of a pain to clean everything up after the fact. I will wait until tomorrow and see how the weather is and go from there. Missing a little here and there is not going to kill me, and as I have mentioned in the past, at times it probably does my body good to have time off to heal.

Signing Off

So I am going to sign off now, call this entry done and go back to my day. I am suddenly in a big of a sleep coma now that I am done eating lunch. It's not that I ate some crazy meal, but I guess having a burger and some steak fries was enough to set me up for exhaustion - grr!

I hope your Monday is treating you fair and you are doing the same in return no matter where you are and if you are getting wet or not from the rain!

Photo: Raining decent for the first week of August during the commute to work today. I like the rainy days like this when it's an "at home chill day" but not when I want to go ride like today, darn!
