Now my only complaint is that it's already getting dark earlier! What the heck is up with that? I mean it's only August and I was thinking the days don't usually get shorter until September or so? I was riding in a little but too dark of weather by the 3/4 or 7/8 point of my ride but only because I was determined to get some seat time in. Probably not the wisest idea to be riding at dusk since my light is still in need of a mount to be able to mount to my carbon fiber bars properly.
You would think that with so many bikes on the market that are full of lightweight components, especially carbon fiber which is almost always thicker or oddly shaped, that there would be adapters for accessories like lights and cameras. Nope, none that I can find anyway.
I mean there are some I am finding but the problem is that the too mount to round things or require to be mounted to the stem or fork legs, something I don't want to do. Heck even if I wanted to, my fork legs are also carbon fiber and again, odd shaped so it would not work.
I guess my point is that I am bummed that it is so difficult to find a solution. Last night I only put in 13 miles I think. I could have easily done another 7 depending on the traffic situation if I had my light. I already had my helmet light on as well as my reflective ankle straps - I was set for the night ride, had I only had my light!
I should mention that there is one other solution and that is to mount the stupid thing to my helmet. I think I have a helmet mount in the box the light came in. I simply don't want to deal with that dam thing on my head if I can avoid it. I know, I know "it's a solution!!", but recognize the fact that I would rather NOT get as many miles in if it means wearing that thing on my head.
Yea I know, "grow up it's not a fashion show", but it's not just that, I have a weird issue with extra weight on my head like that. Even if I could not feel the weight I would know it was there and it would annoy me or give me a stiff neck. Who knows, maybe I will break down at some point and try the stupid thing if I can't find or make a solution for my bars.i simply want it to be my last and final option to ride at night.
Which reminds me, my helmet does have a light built in for the rear but I should probably get another to put on my seat bag because it's not really big enough and I don't know how well I can be seen. The new bright as the sun LED models are inexpensive, light and as mentioned - bright as the sun!

Family
As I think I mentioned yesterday, Cicely's mom gets into town at 2:00 PM and will be staying with us for a few days. She is coming out from L.A. to visit Zoey and of course Cicely and I as well, but who are we kidding, it's mostly Zoey - who could blame her?
So Cicely will be taking off work a few hours early to go to the airport and I will be staying at work. No real reason go us both to take off. I am off tomorrow, not sure if Cicely realizes that or not though? She has been going 100 mph for weeks I think she is having trouble keeping up, I can't blame her and can fully understand how she feels, well mostly.
Part of my reasoning is selfish for taking Friday off. I want to go for a long ass ride if the weather is decent. Otherwise it will be a day at home with everyone and that is OK in my book as well.
With That
Okay with that I think I'm going to go ahead and call it a day. Since it's my Friday I am happy knowing that I can come home tonight and relax because anything that needs to be done this weekend I now have a few extra hours off from the cubed life.
Hopefully I can get some of the stuff done around the house like mowing the lawn and that sort of thing. Anything that needed to be done outside I have been putting off because of the stupid rain. Don't worry I won't get on that soapbox again. Okay well, at least not for a few more weeks when the weather starts turning to crap again.
Photo: If this was the button to get my engine going this morning it was not engaged fully. I am beat, well partially from getting up with Cicely and Zoey at 4:00 AM for a bottle, then I stayed up until 5:30 AM messing with video editing. So only myself to blame!
