Foggy & Humid

Today has been mostly filled with fog. The rain is drying up this morning and the air is getting warmer so we get "humidity" and fog. I do use the word humid with a grain of salt though, coming from the mid-west it's definitely humid in days like this but not mid-west humid.

No matter I had a lot of meetings yesterday afternoon so by the time I got to the gym it was over 2 hours later than normal. It was really busy at that time of the day, hot, muggy and kinda miserable - essentially it was a friggin' sauna in there and people just kept showing up to get their afternoon workout in. Thankfully "pig-pen" - guy that is usually in there early afternoon and STINKS of a combination of garlic, onions, body odor, dead bodies, cheese feet and dirty ass was not there to make everything worse.

I will leave the topic alone for the time being and possibly get into it another day. Honestly, I could go on for hours about that smelly asshole and the simple fact that he has no conscious or care for anyone in nose-shot distance. Gross! I mean he literally smells up the entire gym and BAD. As he walks around from machine to machine the toxic smell follows then hovers like a fog.

Anyway, back to the weather update - the rain finally stopped late yesterday evening and that was a welcomed thing. We need the rain bad in our area, we are in the desert after all. But days of rain and no riding tend to really bum me out. It's not so much the addiction of racking up miles and seeing sights but I love burning the calories even more.

Hopefully things will dry up after today since more rain is predicted this afternoon before it's entirely gone. My goal is to go on a ride this Friday, originally thinking it may be a great day for 100+ miles but because I have not ridden this week it could very well work against me going the distance. I guess we will see how it goes and play it by ear that way, not much choice otherwise.

I have some interest in a trainer that I found yesterday although to shell-out around $1200 to get it I want to be confident it's the best choice vs. Spending $600 more to get a high-end trainer that may be a better choice. More on that later of course, for now it's research and more research.

Anyway not much else going on for today, just trying to get my new laptop setup still as it's a very slow process getting all of the stuff onto it that you forgot you had. Nothing like "reaching" for a particular tool or functionality and realizing that its not there. Oh well, all in time it will come together and be back to normal.

Friday & Family Visits

Tomorrow is my Friday, so I am looking forward to a nice long weekend, then a few more days off next week as well to turn the weekend into 5 days away from the office. We have Cicely's mom coming into town this week so she can visit as well as spend some time with Zoey.

She will only be here for 4 or 5 days this time though, unlike when she stayed for right around 2 weeks back in March just after Zoey was born. I have a feeling that it will zip by and before we know it next week will be upon us again, the house will be emptier and we will slowly get back into the normal day-to-day groove.. So I am going to do my best to enjoy it and hopefully go on some nice bike rides over those days.

This year the holidays will be the time that proves to be the most crazy, and unusual for us. Normally we can call more of our own shots as far as visiting family and so on. This year we really don't have that luxury and will need to be sure to get Zoey around to see everyone and for everyone to be able to spend some time with her. I just hope they don't spoil the heck out of her, our house is already so full of her stuff it's gonna pop!

OK for real this time, have a good one!

Photo: The cool little character loaded up on my machine. Guess it's one of the Windows default wallpapers. I have not seen this one before because usually I have something custom setup. Oh well it's pretty cool until I get the time to setup my own again.
