Friday'ish

Alright, what the hell am I talking about with this "Friday'ish" crap? Basically it's because on the Friday before a holiday weekend we generally have a lunch for the entire studio. After the lunch around 1:30 or 2:30 our studio director tells us to "have a good weekend" and we get to go home. That means today is actually Friday in away because tomorrow will be a shortened day.

To be perfectly honest almost no-one will be entirely focused tomorrow anyhow. With the holiday looming in the foreground and the idea of a shortened day after a free lunch the anxiety starts to come to the foreground from just thinking about it all. In turn, most work, others socialize and work and the few that are caught up offer help, but are sure to socialize as well to help the seconds click by.

The Tuesday that follows the holiday weekend is never a fun or social day. Everyone is bummed to be back at work, even though they are not bummed about their work - if that makes sense. I can relate because of course I would rather be off with the family doing things and making memories, but to do that in the way that we are accustomed to it requires making games. Well, I don't actually make games anymore now that I am in management, but you get the point.

More Ribs

So I talked to my dad last night over text and he mentioned that they went to the rib cook-off and it was nice going on a weekday - yea I bet, lucky! Being retired sure does have it's benefits now doesn't it? Plus my step-mom happens to be off that day so it worked out perfectly for them both.

He went to his usual rib vendor and was satisfied with the choice. The ribs were excellent, the crowds were almost non-existent and it was a good time all around. I actually like to go to a different rib vendor than they go to, but the one that is their favorite is actually really good - just not my favorite stop every year.

Cicely and I discussed the cook-off this morning and we are not entirely sure if we will go or not. Zoey will not get anything out of attending this year and we don't go to hang out as I have mentioned. We will go down, hit the vender's that we prefer, pull out the plastic grocery bags we brought along to bag up our stash and once done head out - unless we make a quick run through the vendor booths. Never purchasing anything, but letting Cicely look around and window shop mostly.

I guess we will see how it goes and play it by ear. I would like to have some ribs for Oggy as well. He goes crazy when he sees them and even more-so once he knows that it's his turn to start getting meat off of the bones that we have left. It's one of the rare times with him that his wild animal instincts really start to come out.

From the moment I sit on the kitchen floor with him and he begins to pull the meat off of the bone, lick the sides to loosen the marrow he will get very snappy and rushed with his eating, so much so that I have to keep my fingers curled over so if he nips me it will only be a knuckle and not him then digesting one of my finger tips.

Mom Visit

We are planning to go down to Carson City and visit mom on Saturday morning and finally introduce her to Zoey and Zoey to her. I think I have been subconsciously putting it off because it makes me sad that they will never get to really bond as they would have if things were different.

I selfishly hope that this never happens to me, I do not want Zoey to have to go through this or Cicely of course. I love them both so very much and would not want to have them watch me go out like that and retain only those most recent memories.

Not a whole lot of choice in the matter though. If it's in the hand that I was dealt then all that I can do is keep an eye on myself and get the help I need to postpone everything I can to manage a normal life. I want to watch my Zoey grow and become the amazing person that I know she will be!

Photo: Did not have anything to snap a photo of today so the winner was another one of Zoey's favorite books titled "Emily's Day".
