Monday, 3, 2, 1 - Go!

Yep time to dive back into the workweek with full force! At least today is not a "call in because of a jacked up back" day. Although I will say that my back is a little on edge today again. It's probably a combination of all things over the weekend. From riding the road bike to working in the lawn last night, OK more like yesterday evening but it was dark and 9:00 PM when I finished mowing, I love the fact that I have LED  headlights on my mower!

Who would have thought that it would be such an awesome thing to have on one? I would have always thought "cheesy" and actually did when I first read that it had them. Now it's like "why don't more have them"? Probably because no-one wants to hear a gas mower running at 9:00 PM on a Sunday. I bet my neighbors had no clue I was mowing unless they happened to see the lights moving around as I mowed.

Cubed

Anyway as mentioned it's Monday again and time to get back into the swing of things. Last week was a little shorter because of me taking Monday off and then the picnic on Friday which made it only 1/2 day for us both.

Today should be business as usual and the week does not look too bad so far. There are a few meetings lined up as well as a bigger meeting they are calling "the lightning talks" down in our cafeteria seating area. This is the first one of these and should last just a tad over an hour plus the 1/2 hour Q&A at the end.

Basically there will be a panel of speakers that will talk about a subject for 10 minutes, maybe it's 5 minutes I don't remember. Anyway they will talk uninterrupted and when done move on to the next speaker and so on. The idea is to throw a lot of information out there to hopefully create some "ah-ha" moments as well as spark up new ideas and conversation after the session is complete and the entire panel is done.

I imagine there will be some hiccups with this one as it is the first but it will still be a really good thing to have because we really do have so much going on, a ton of new and older tech always merging and it's impossible pretty-much to be up on it all, all of the time. To have resources available is a huge help and something like the lightning talks should introduce us to those resources.

I guess they do them at coding conferences as well and with great success. So a few of the guys that have been to those and took away knowledge and ideas decided it would be great to try, I agree!

Cycling

Decent ride yesterday afternoon as mentioned. Not sure if I will be able to ride tonight or not. I mean I will be able to, but I may give my body the night off to recoup a little from riding so much the past few months. Plus since my back is still a little jacked up I don't want to end up pissing it off more - dam body!

As long as I can remember I have had weird back issues and it sucks. I can remember hurting it even when I was really young and skateboarding. Not knowing what was going on and if it would ever heal. Obviously it did but it's still been jacked up most my life. My hope is that staying active will help it to last me into my 90's or longer! Sometimes things tend to work the opposite so let's hope not!

Solid Foods (Okay, solid as-in purée)

We are starting Zoey on more solids tonight, most likely peas and that sort of thing all made up in our Baby Bullet food processor. I am excited about it and so is Cicely. She has been researching it a lot and is finding great techniques on introducing foods, what to avoid and so on. I hope Zoey is as excited as we are and enjoys it too!

Alright Then

That will have to do it for today! Hopefully by the end of the day my back starts to feel a little better, or at least better than it does this morning. A lot better would be preferred of course.I think that I may have set the problem into motion using that janky fuckin' elliptical at the gym last week. It always screws with my lower back, hips or both and sometimes shoulders. When the newer smooth machine is not available I need to just do something other than the crappy ones.

I know better but did I listen to my better judgement? Nope of course not - I mean do we ever listen to our better judgment when we should? Most times, no! I should have used the treadmill that day. Maybe this time I will learn and not do it again. Damn, reading what I just wrote, realizing that I'm hard on myself! Annoying pain like this sucks because I can't play with Zoey as much as I would like to or Oggy - so I get really mad at myself, at least for good reason!

Photo: So it's been cold in the studio today and I was craving something warm but not coffee or tea. As luck would have it Cicely must have picked up on this through intuition and brought me some tasty steak and potato soup for lunch - yum! Apologies for the empty bowl, I kept meaning to take the photo and the next thing I knew the bowl was empty. You can trust me when I say that it was very good and hit the spot big time!
