Short Week, Cool!
So here I am whining about the long weekend being over and not thinking about the fact that I have a shortened week in front of me. Today is basically Monday and tomorrow is Friday - how flippin' cool is that?
I had us take off some extra days so we could take one day and go up to Tahoe and hang out for a few hours, have some lunch and enjoy the day. Then one of the other days we will try to go down and visit mom and FINALLY introduce her to Zoey. I sure hope that she realizes who Zoey is. I really wish she could meet the real person that is stuck inside off that dam dementia time warp. My mom and Zoey would have so much fun together I just know it.
Families Gone
So Cicely's mom headed back to L.A. this morning at 7:00 AM. It was a really good visit and I think she not only had a great time visiting Zoey but I am pretty sure that Zoey had a great time as well getting spoiled and non-stop attention, kisses and lovin's from grandma. The weekend visit went by really fast but it was a really good way to do it. I just hope that it was not crazy expensive for her.
Not sure when she will be coming back out again but my assumption would be that it will be right around the holiday time of the year. Makes the most sense except I imagine if not planned well then airfare will be extremely expensive.
Anyway, nice visit over-all and I think that everyone had a nice time. Plus her mom likes to cook while she is here so we had lots of great Dominican food for the entire time. Even the stuff that is not necessarily Dominican still has that twist to it and lots of flavor that fills the house with good smells of dinner! Heck yesterday when I pulled up to the garage to open the door after my bike ride I could smell the cooking from there. I was starving, but knew that I had to wait for another hour to an hour and a half before I could eat because I had lawn duties to take care of.
Racing Death
So I was reading on Saturday night that there was a death, presumably caused by the driver that I follow in the NASCAR racing series. This did not happen at a NASCAR race but a sprint race. The driver that was on the track, wanting to make a point to my driver ended up getting hit and drug a little by the race car. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
I am intentionally not mentioning names because I don't want this blog to get hit by those that are searching for more "juice" on the tragic event. I read today that my driver will not be charged with any criminal charges as the media splattered all over the place on Sunday. That is one thing about the media, whether they have a clue, or not about something they just write away as though they are the experts in the field they are writing on. More times than not these stories are full of assumption and have little to no factual content.
No matter, I am happy to hear that my driver will not have any criminal charges brought against him, but even without them, he has to live with this for the rest of his life and I think that will prove to be a very difficult thing to do. My heart goes out to the family, friends and fans of the driver that was killed in the incident. Everyone can speculate and comment that he should not be on the track and that my driver should not have done this or that but the truth is we don't know the facts and can only assume based on a crappy cellphone YouTube video.
None-the-less, no-one deserves to die because of a racing altercation nor would anyone attempt to do so. That is again, a speculation on my part - we are not in their minds or emotions at the time. But based on what I know about the hot headed driver I follow, he may want to punch someone in the face or ram into their car to spin them out to make a point, but killing? Nah, those guys on the track have more respect than that for one-another c'mon.

Weather
So there are supposed to be more of the crazy thunder, lightening and rain storms today. I can only assume they will be like they were last night. The thunder sucks because it scares Oggy and will probably scare Zoey as well once she figures out what it is.
On the positive side the lawn looks amazing from the rain we have been getting and after finally mowing it last night it's ready and willing to soak it up! The crazy and annoying thing is that I received the water bill eNotice this morning and the fucking bill is nearly $50 more than normal. I seriously think that they average the water use in the area and bill accordingly. There is no way I used that much more water.
Hell I had the irrigation system turned off for 3 days because of the rain. On top of that I cut back the watering by 10% per the suggestion of the water company to help keep our community in-line with the potential drought weather next year.
I know that we did not do more laundry or dishes. We did not take longer showers or baths for Zoey and I for sure did not use the irrigation system more so it always has me a little annoyed. I will have to do some research and determine if they do that averaging or not - if so, that is complete bullshxt because I guarantee you that we are much more frugal and sensible with our water usage than most of the average families.
If I cant find any additional information on it I guess there is really not much I can do but bend over, grab my ankles and pay it. Although I will continue to keep an eye on it and determine if there is any averaging going on that's for sure!
That Will Do It
So that's about all I have for today. Hoping to have a great week and enjoy the last few bits of summer while it lasts. Next thing I know I will be in the garage on a trainer bike or all bundled up attempting a ride in the cold.
Mowing the lawn will be a thing of the past for several months and shoveling the driveway, pulling out the snow-blower and scraping windshields of frost in the morning will be the new normal.
Until then, I am gonna enjoy those things that are in front of me at the moment and deal with the rest as it comes.
