Working Some Deals

What a nice relaxing day Christmas was yesterday. Cicely and I stayed inside the house and just hung out the majority of the day which was awesome. We made some phone calls and sent some messages to friends to wish them a happy holiday but otherwise the day was nice and chill.

Baby Room

We did manage to do a little work in the baby room like setting up all of the sheets, bumpers, protectors and so on for the crib. I finally was able to get the curtain rod hung up but was not able to hang the curtain or put the cute little monkey end caps on the rod.

Upon opening and inspecting the curtain rod ends I noticed that one of the monkeys had a broken ear. Well that really sucks because now we have to drive to the other side of town to return them. We looked online and they don't have any more in stock either, ugh! Well at least we can hang the curtain right? Nope, the pack only comes with a single curtain and our window requires 2. We go online to check our local store and of course as luck would have it this too is out of stock.

Now all of the bad news out of the way there is a bit of good news to all of this. When we went online to check the local stores stock I noticed that the stroller we want to get is on sale for nearly $150 off the cheapest price we have found it anywhere! The sale was only yesterday and because the store was closed for Christmas and we don't want a $325 stroller sitting on the porch if delivered to us we potential for the pick up in store option. We plan to go get it today when we go out to run other errands.

Then Cicely noticed there was a deal on bedding and room decor going on. Upon further inspection she found that if we ordered the curtains and the monikers online it was a buy one get one 50% off deal. Holy crap that is a great deal! The shipping is free and doing so we were able to save over $25 on the purchase, very cool!

So today we will go to the store and pick up the stroller we ordered yesterday. While there we will return the broken monkey curtain rod ends and the single curtain. Then just wait a week or so for them to show up in the mail. Pretty cool to be able to save so much money by doing a little research and working the deals. We could have saved another $5 or so if we returned the curtain rod as well and used the buy 1 get 1 item 50% off deal but by that point I already had it mounted to the wall.

What's more is that all of these items are on our registry so we will get money back once baby is born up to $200. Basically they send you a gift certificate and you can use it on anything. Between the furniture and everything else we will get the $200 no problem. Yup there is still more. We are also on the rewards program so we earn $5 and $10 off coupons for money spent so we will get that as well for these purchases - pretty sweet huh?

I realize that it probably sounds like a lot of work and research and it is. But in the long run it pays off literally for us to shop this way. All the money saved can go back toward more goodies and necessities for baby.

Photo: Received another one of my Kickstarter items on  Christmas Eve. It is 2 of the Rebel wireless Bluetooth speakers. They will be nice when I am out flying, barbecuing or anywhere I only have my phone and want better sounding music and headphones are not an option.
