Assholes With Firearms

This morning it is dead calm outside and really cold. The snow that fell over a week ago is slowly melting away. The ice is melting slowly and things are getting back to normal. Well just in time for the next big storm. The weather guessers predict that it will get more and more windy as the day goes on. Generally this translates to a storm blowing into the valley. I would really appreciate it if it could wait until Friday night but I doubt we will all be so lucky.

Oh well have to take what we are given I suppose and run with it. I actually enjoy the exercise when shovelling the driveway. I just prefer not to drive in the crap. Not because I am worried about my skills. It's the lack of skills with the other drives around me that worry me.

More on this in the next couple days I imagine. At least on the bright side of things Cicely and I will have several days off from work so we can enjoy coffee, hit cocoa and marshmallows or what ever we choose should the weather get nasty. Those are the best snowy days!

Unfortunate Happenings

Okay so anyone that knows me even a little bit knows that I enjoy the sport of shooting guns. I am not a hunter or anything like that but I do enjoy my right to shoot and own a gun if I choose to. Unfortunately there are many assholes and idiots in the world that really screw things up for all of us that follow the law.

Yesterday this became even more true and closer to home. In the afternoon while I was in the gym doing my workout I saw a blurb on the TV that the local Renown hospital was shutdown actually locked down because there was a shooter on campus.

The shooter had shot four people and I guess in the end also took his own life. I have not followed the story much more because the details were scarce, and with our local news you never know what to believe because they are idiots as well. Everyone just like the ohhh and ahh factor of it and that it gives them something to talk about around the water cooler.

I'm sorry, actually I'm not, but people lost their fuckin' lives so I think that deserves a little more respect. Anyway, the last I heard, one person had died and another victim was in surgery and I think ended up passing away as well from a gunshot wound.

I have not heard about the other 2 but it doesn't matter. If we have lost two people one or both of which were doctors that is just horrible. Someone goes to work to help or save someones life and ends up losing their own because of some idiot on a rampage.

My heart goes out to those that lost their lives or lost a family member it's a horrible thing. My only hope is that people do not blame the guns as they always do. A gun is in an "thing" that does not have any superpowers unless you put someone behind it. Taking away all the guns or the ammunition does nothing. People will always find a way to do bad things.

I guess my point is we don't need more security or more laws or more what ever of the tree hugging bullshxt that will almost certainly be brought up at some point about this. We need people to wise up and understand their surroundings. I know this would not have helped the unfortunate things that went on yesterday. But if gun wielding criminals know that everyone could potentially have a firearm it may make them think twice.

If you take the guns away from everyone the only thing you are going to do is allow criminals and the bad guys to have them. Trust me it is much easier to get an illegal gun than to go buy one legally.

I will end this now because there is a lot of controversy and talk going on I am sure surrounding this very topic. Most of it are things that everyone has heard from the past shootings and unfortunate events.

Once again my heart goes out to everyone that lost a family member and to those that lost their lives. My only request would be that we not use this to try and take away everyone's rights. It's not the solution it's a temporary Band-Aid to eventually make things worse.
