It gets cold here in the valley but generally we don't see much more than 0 to a degree or 2 under zero and even then it's short lived. Yesterday it "warmed up" to the high teens and low 20's so I thought we were on a winter warming trend and the temps would be more normal. Today crushed that hope although the weather guessers did say that we should continue to now get a little more warm weather as the week goes on.
Posts on Facebook about friends home water pipes freezing up, cars not starting and related are all par for the course on days like this. I run all of our facets to keep them from icing up and this morning they were fine. Generally if you let them drip ever so slightly it is enough movement in the pipes to keep them from freezing.
To date we have only had one freeze up and that was the refrigerator water valve. I think that year it was because there was a ton of snow on the back wall which made the wall so cold along with the ground that it just gave up and froze. Thankfully it warmed up and let loose causing no damage or need for repairs.
Commute
The commute in will be cold but at least it will not be slow and go like Tuesday of last week - wow did that suck! Most of the roads are clear now of ice and snow with the exception of the side roads and subdivisions. No problem there, that only makes up about a mile or two of our 18 mile commute so it's cake!
Tonight should be more of the same as far as the drive goes. I like the white stuff just as much as the next guy but the problems it leaves behind are never any fun to deal with. Oh well all part of the ride right?
Science
Of course last night around 9:30 PM as we were getting ready to turn off the TV, surf for a few then call it a night Weird Science was just starting! Holy crap there is no way Cicely and I can go to sleep knowing that is on TV! So being the 80's TV fans that we are we watched the entire movie while we surfed the internet for a little while. It is such a killer movie, I wish there were more like that now. Most of the actors went on to either do more hit movies or star in them as well.
I think Cicely and I need a 80's movie weekend marathon to see them all in one day and pacify us for awhile! Actually that might be a great idea to do for baby once she is old enough to understand and appreciate them all. Of course because her parents like them that may only give her reason to rebel and not like them or want to watch them with us. I sure hope not, it would be a good time.
Photo: Proof that it is colder than a witches tit in a brass bra today!
