Hope For A Surgeon

Woke up this morning to a fresh layer of snow on the ground just as predicted. Wow! The weather guessers are actually getting pretty good at this stuff lately. I for one am impressed with them, either that or they are simply using Google now and that would explain the new found accuracy. Yea I know, I am a dick when it comes to them but hey, I have very little respect for that job. I think what they do and know is great, but predicting the weather and everyone relying on it is a little god-like if you really think about it. Maybe not, maybe it's just that I don't like them and they are merely making predictions based on patterns in the jet stream. If so, call it what it is and quit trying to act like you fully understand and are "in the know" in Mother Natures next move.

OK that was not my initial intent - to go off on a rampage about the weather men and women of the world. I guess the news in general just gets to me because they are so fuckin' ignorant and like to add shock factor to every story they can. Then the weather men and women try to slur those feelings by telling you how good or bad tomorrow will be based on the weather. Local news, you are a joke and I mean that in the most heartwarming and sincere way.

An Amazing Surgeon & Person

So while waking up this morning we heard more news on the radio about the events that went down on Tuesday at the local Renown hospital. If you don't recall, a gunman from California came into the center for advance medicine with a 12 gauge shotgun and proceeded to go to the urology wing of the hospital. He had the patients in the waiting rooms clear out and proceeded to the back where he shot 4 doctors, killing one of them and injuring the others badly.

One of the injured doctors that is "awake but in critical condition" was one that I went to back when I had my kidney surgery. Her name is Dr. Lajeunesse and she is an AMAZING doctor and person to say the least. I am sure everyone that was injured or killed were amazing and my heart goes out to them, their families and their friends and co-workers.

When I went to see Dr. Lajeunesse for the first time she kinda caught me off guard and really excited me for the surgery - as crazy as that sounds. She was so into her work and the awesome technology she had at her disposal along with her natural abilities. She actually cares 110% about her patients (as I think most do, but some anymore are just going through the paces I think). Not her, I think if she could work 22 hours a day she would. Then she would probably practice her skills or read about new methods in her off time.

Anyway, I will cut it short - I just felt that it was important for me to recognize her and say that I hope with all of my heart that she is able to recover from this and continue on. Losing someone like her will be a major loss in my eyes in the medical community. We already lost one doctor during this tragedy who I did not know, but imagine if he worked in that building he was also an amazing person. It seems they all are in that hospital.

My heart and thoughts go out to each and everyone of you and your family, friends, co-workers and patients. You have helped so many in your lifetime and I can only hope that you can help many more and let them experience exactly what I did. I thank you for helping me and now in your time of need I only wish I could return the favor in some manner.
