Decisions, Decisions

Sometimes life has a way of really throwing you for a loop when you least expect it. These events can sometimes be great like finding out a friend or loved one has something awesome happening in their lives that they have worked hard for. Other times not so much, like hearing about a sickness or at times a death of someone you know.

My life curve ball was thrown telecasters at when I least expected it just after I returned to the studio from the gym. Because of this 15 minute meeting I attended I have some thinking to do and decisions that need to be made. I am sorry that I am being so vague but as of now it's what needs to be done.

Should things go one way or the other I will then happily explain what all of the beating around the bush was about in this post.

Change

Speaking of life as well as cubed life it seems a curve ball of sorts is going to be thrown our way today as a studio. We have a last minute all-hands meeting that was called yesterday afternoon scheduled for first thing today. There is a lot of anxiety with everyone wondering what it could be about. I heard more than an earful of rambling yesterday from coworkers speculating.

If I had to jump in and play my guess would be that we are either merging with another studio. The one that focuses on core games and much more international content than we do. It would not really make sense but it's one of my 2 guesses.

My second would be that we are now splitting our studio into two separate entities entirely, but under the same director. As it sits now we already have a north and a south team so it would be fairly easy to do and have little to no ripple affect. It may disrupt a few people simply because it is change, but at least it's very minimal as far as location and impact on what we do currently.

No real sense in wasting effort guessing. We will see in a few hours and then know exactly what it's all about. I for one don't really care if either of those are the topic for discussion or  the change on the horizon. We have all been there before and will probably be there again. If you can't roll with the punches in this business then it's probably time to get out of the ring.

**Update: We are splitting the studio into two separate entities after-all. From the sounds of it, it will be pretty interesting and give some opportunity for change and progress. Should be a fun ride if nothing else to try and make thing better!
