For the first half of the drive it was the normal slow going because of the icy conditions but we were moving at a decent pace and making progress.
Progress lasted until we were just about at the halfway point of being home. We came around a corner on one of the main roads and all you could see, as far as you could see were tail lights - well fuck me!
Not interested in sitting in line for hours I turned at the next cross street, then flipped a bitch and headed another way while Cizzle brought up navigation to find the alternate streets to get through. Great idea and it worked out even better because we missed the majority of the problems and actually made it home, well to dads, in under an hour - not bad!
Dads
Why after such a long day did we stop at dads house? Well because he made some awesome Spanish style chicken soup and offered us some so we would not have to cook, awesome!
We stopped by and picked up a steaming hot Tupperware full of it, hung out for a few talking and then called it a night. Once home I shoveled the driveway quickly then came in, showered and we had dinner. The soup was awesome and a perfect way to end a miserably cold day - thanks pops!
Stepbrother
In other news we found out yesterday that my stepbrother A.J. and his wife Elizabeth are expecting a little one as well. Awesome news, we are so happy for them! I guess they are a little over 2 months behind us and are expected to have theirs in May.
We do not know anything about names, sex of the baby or related and will not. They want to keep it all secret until they have him/her. I can't blame them, it's easier to do that in some ways so you don't have to listen to everyone and their opinions and criticism if they don't like a name you have chosen or are leaning toward. Family can be a real pain in the ass at times when it comes to topics like this, although they generally do not mean to what-so-ever.
Now my dad and step-mom will be grandparents 2 times over all in the same year and only a couple months apart. They are pretty dang excited, that's for sure!

Today's Commute
It's an icy mess out today for our drive in to the studio. After yesterday warming up just enough to start to melt everything it then got cold the minute the sun went down and kept getting colder which froze everything.
The high temperature for today as well as tomorrow is only supposed to hit 21°. That is really cold for us right now. Especially since it has been in the 50s and 60s during the week of Thanksgiving.
So on our ride in everything was slippery and icy. Nothing like ice-skating into work I guess, keeps it interesting. Plus I like to drive and today we took Cicely's VW Beetle. This meant I had to be a passenger, something I don't do very well when it's inclement weather like this. I have a tendency to continually hit the brake that is not there as we would slip and slide, LOL.
Trust me Cicely does not care much for my passenger seat driving either. But hey, being a racer for so many years it's just in my blood to want to control the situation. And sure I will toot my own horn and tell you that I am a damn good driver. Don't believe me? Let's get on a race track and see what's up!
Melt
Okay time to let this post melt away into the day and see what comes of the rest of my morning. So far it's just meetings and the usual development for a Wednesday. That is okay with me I want to just stay warm and not deal with any crazy drivers.
We are supposed to be getting more snow by the end of the week but hopefully it won't come until the weekend when we don't have to drive in it. The weather guessers predicted Friday evening into Friday night and that is fine by me.
A few days of dry but cold weather will work to my advantage if I play my cards right. It gives me some time to pull the snow blower out of the shed and put the lawnmower into the shed and be ready for almost whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at us, hopefully.

Have a great day whatever it is you are doing and stay warm. If you are out driving in the snow and ice do yourself and all of us a favor and try not not have your head up your ass. A small dose of commonsense goes a long way.
Photo: Mega frosty windows today to compliment the icy roads and freezing weather.
