Lucky 13

So today is obviously Friday the 13th which means the superstitious types will be on edge most of the day. Those that are not so superstitious will go on as usual but may keep an eye on their peripheral vision, ladders and black cats. I for one plan to just keep on keeping on and take it like any other day. Friday the 13th or not.

Nasty Cramp

For Cicely I think she started off today the way no one would want to. She woke up after a nice warm snooze through the night and was ready to get out of bed when her badly gave her the signal to stretch - it will feel great and help you jump into your day. What can you say to something so enticing? Nothing less than "ok sounds good".

She proceeded to give a nice big stretch, reaching for the ceiling and letting out a nice deep breath when suddenly the worst that could happen, happened - her calf and foot charlie horsed at the same time. I was in the other room drinking coffee but I knew exactly what was going down. I ran in and immediately began to massage out the calf cramp and then down to the arch of her foot. She was in some tremendous pain I could tell.

Moments later the cramps were subsiding but I continued to massage I  hopes of her leg and foot not being stuff and sore all day from the cramp when suddenly, round two!

Her leg, calf specifically balled up and cramped once again, this time much sharper - to the point I could feel the cramp in the muscle. I continued to massage and work it out. It went away fairly fast and did not seem to want to come back.

I continued the massage and stretching for another 10 minutes or so which she said seemed to really help and felt nice as well. Thankfully it went away 100% and she is feeling better now.

I guess this was her good morning waking call from the Friday the 13th craziness - again if you are a subscriber to that belief. Whether Cicely is, was or is on the fence about it I bet she wonders if it had anything to do with this mornings events. I chalk it up to the pregnancy as does she most likely - but you never know do you?

Glucose

Fast Forward to later this morning and we are at the lab so Cicely can do her gestational diabetes testing. She did not tolerate the glucose drink very well and was very dizzy and nauseous from it.

My hand were tied so I could only sit, rub her back and belly to comfort her a little and get her mind off of it all. It's an hour long wait to let the drink go through your system before the blood draw. So yet another Friday the 13th event for my poor wife. My hope is that it all comes back normal so she does not meet to do the 3 hour test. I think that will be the case and she will be fine.

The day can only get better for her from here on out I think. She is a trooper that's for sure. These tests suck but hopefully this will be the only one she will have to do here on out that is so miserable.

Baby Stuff Shopping

Tonight after work we are going to go and look at the nice, giant and cushy recliners so we can find one we like to put in Zoey's room. We figure we will be spending a good deal of time in there so we might as well make it comfortable for us all. Then Zoey can have it in her room until she grows tired of it at which time we can toss it or donate it to someone that can use it.

Once done looking at those we are going to head over to the baby store and get the mattress for her crib. It is the second to last really big thing that we need to get besides the stroller so it feels great to be making some progress. The time is flying by much faster than we thought it would. Next thing we know she is going to be here and we need to be ready for her!
