First thing this morning I was reminded that on this day in 1982, one of my favorite movies involving computers, laser-beams and full-on technology was released into the world. The movie was based on a world inside the
computer where no man had ever been...well, never before Flynn, that is!
The most amusing part of the story to me was that on the following day, July 10, Disney stock fell 2.5 points because Wall Street could not appreciate TRON's awesomeness. I can only assume they felt that the movie industry was going down hill and that the public would never be interested in movies about computers and technology - yea, looks like you were wrong guys!
On the other side of the screen, it all looks so easy!

Engrish
Brevity: "You must restrict the thing which it always obtains by yourself"The above comes from a shirt that I had completely forgotten that I bought for Cicely several years back when I went over to Japan on a business trip. I think she has one or two others as well, that-is if they have not yet worn down to a thread from being worn so much - I know she liked them at least!
It was both interesting and amusing to see the English that they put on shirts, prolly no different than the tattoos people get in the US of Chinese, Japanese, etc that at times is incorrectly done. I would see kids on the subways with shirts that said "Fuck You" and they were prolly 10 years old at best, standing there with their parents - no clue what the shirt really said or more importantly what it meant. It's always interesting how a society does that with another language or culture.
Period Marks The End
Super busy, but productive day so I need to get back to it. Tonight I am on my own once I get home because Cicely has a mountain of stuff to take care of for her upcoming fashion show on the 26th. We managed to go pick up my ticket last night so I am all set.
I was planning to sit in the VIP section, but from the looks of it, there is no real reason to pay the extra $20 for those seats. I assumed I would be able to sit by myself, but forgot that the theater that is hosting the event only has tables for 4 or booths for 6. Hopefully I can sit with Cicely's family that is attending the show. If not, I guess it will be as good of a time as any to make some new friends.
So tonight I will take care of the lawn, front and back - get some dinner for myself as well as be sure the fuzzy kid is fed and happy. Then it will either work in the garage for a little while painting the door trim or park my butt on the couch and chill -- the chill idea is currently winning.
Photo: Happy TRON day everyone!
