Mom called and said that she needed us to come over to the house because her fuzzy kid, Nemo, was dying. We took this news with a grain of salt because with my moms vascular dementia she unintentionally fabricates things.
I am saddened to say, with all of my heart that when we showed up Nemo had in fact passed away early this morning.
Because my mom can't drive we took Nemo to his vet and set up the cremation process. His ashes will be saved in a nice oak box and we had a paw print plaque made to honor him and for mom to remember him by.
Nemo was an amazing dog, his life started out very rough as he and his litter were left for dead in the snow at an abandoned house. Neighbors called because of the yipping and when animal services arrived there were 2 dogs still alive, just barely. The 2 brothers Nemo and Jojo would be adopted a year or so later by my mom and sister and go on to live many more great days.
Jojo passed a year or so back and that was really tough as well for all of us. He was a smart boy that anyone would be lucky to have in their life.
Nemo went on to be a well trained therapy dog that went to nursing homes with my mom to visit the residents. He had many articles written about him and won many awards. He helped to make our fuzzy kid a better kid as well simply by being around him and influencing him to do certain things. We see Nemo all the time in Oggy's mannerisms.
He was my moms best friend, security guard and life long companion. They were a team that did everything together like they say, 2 peas in a pod. He touched many people and will be missed by everyone.
We love you buddy, thank you for being a part of our lives, Oggy's life and everyone in between.
Run through the fields and visit your brother Jojo, I am sure he will be waiting to show you the way. Selfishly not for many many years, but keep an eye out for Oggy as well one day. You 3 will make one heck of a pack!
The world lost an amazing fuzzy kid but rainbow bridge gained an amazing one! Take care of him please!
Rainbow Bridge (author unknown)
There is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
We love you Nemo!
