It's already the second Monday of the week and mentally I am all screwed up. My body does not know if it is supposed to sleep-in or if it is ok to stay up late and watch another episode of Warehouse 13 on Netflix! Nearly through season 4 by-the-way, and it is just as awesome as the first 3 seasons. Kicking myself for waiting so long to watch it. Maybe its a good thing because we have been able to watch them back-to-back - that is so friggin' nice to be able to do!
Bully's Sports Bar
Today we had to cut out of work a little early so we could make it over to the other side of town and meet Cicely's family for dinner at Bully's Sports Bar. We will be celebrating her dads birthday, as we do every year at Bully's. His official birthday is not until Friday but we are celebrating a little early because he has to work on Friday as does Cicely's sisters, so tonight worked out the best.
Sounds good-to-me, it has been a long and busy day for the most part and an ice cold beer will be the perfect period at the end of today's sentence. I am looking forward to it even without the beer and bar-food. As I have mentioned in the past, we don't get to see her family as much as we use to so its always a great time.
Hurry Up Technology
When I ran across today's photo I could not resist using it. Cicely and I both talk about this stuff all the time and I imagine most people that are into technolgoy do as well, especially any of them, like us, that grew up watching Star Wars, Back To The Future, Star Trek, Terminator and related.
So now that we are into 2013 more than a day it's a great question to ponder; Where the heck is all of the cool stuff we imagined back in the day? I would love to take a break at lunch and ride my hover board or use it to go get the mail. With a portal I would never be late for work or anything for that matter. Actually, I probably would manage to somehow still be late, but it would surely help! Light speed is another item on the list that we would benefit from. Order something from Amazon and next thing you know its sitting at your front door, sweet!
Now that said, I have to come clean and say that there are a few things on the list I can wait for and a few others I actually kinda hope we never see. Flying cars scare me a little, ok a lot, because people cant drive a vehicle on the ground as it is. So just imagine them flying. Not to mention the fact that you are fooling yourself if you think there will be no flying minivans, noooooo!
Same goes for the majority of cyborgs, I mean c'mon you have seen Terminator right? I have no interest being marked for termination like John Connor! Sure there are benefits to them, but I think there is a bit of a risk there that we don't want to dabble in for quite some time. I can think of a whole slew of things that could vastly improve my day-to-day before a cyborg could/would. I read today on CNET that there are robotic space hedgehogs in the works, stuff like that is cool because they are exploring other planets but what happens when one of those little bastards are waiting for you in your backyard one day, no thanks! No matter, I am a sucker and would still support any advancements to make most of these things happen if I could.
Hasta La Vista
Alright, time to get some more stuff finished up and call it a day. The time off yesterday was awesome and much appreciated but it is kicking my butt today for some reason. I didn't stay up extra late or anything like that so maybe its just my body playing catch-up? The short week will be great but I dread the first full week of the year next week. It was still really quiet at work because 60% of the studio is still out on vacation until the 7th. I think next year Cicely and I are going to do something like that and enjoy a little more uninterrupted time off.
For everyone that had to go back into the office today I hope that your Monday #2 treated you fairly, if not don't fret, you have a hump-day and a Friday just around the corner to look forward to!
