Mellowday

This morning started off with the usual big ass cup of fresh ground Blind Dog coffee to get me motivated enough to head out front and shovel the driveway after the small storm we had in the valley yesterday afternoon.

There was no more than an inch of new snow but enough to require clearing of the sidewalks and driveway. Luckily I have a decent pattern down-pat so it only took me 30 minutes or so. It was actually nice as crazy as that sounds. I actually enjoy shoveling for the most part, it's a good workout and rewarding when the work is done. Just like mowing and edging the lawn in the summer - sort of a pride thing for guys I guess. But also to avoid being sued because someone took a digger!

Video's

I spent a good part of the day editing and uploading a couple videos to YouTube. One was of Oggy that I filmed this morning while testing out a new iPhone application called 8mm. I gave it an old time look, kinda shaky and not HD by any means - all on purpose. Then added a sound track and uploaded it to my channel. I could have went crazy with the editing, intro and outros but I wanted to just get it up there before I got side-tracked with something else, happens to me every time.

Another video was one with a few still photos from our last Caribbean vacation. Wait, lemme back up for a second. While cleaning out a closet last week we found an old answering machine and did what anyone would do - checked for the tape then plugged it in. Unfortunately it did not have any old messages on it (shxt) but it did still have our greeting (sweet).

So I immediately recorded it to my phone and since you can't upload audio only files to YouTube I had to add some footage so that is where the photos come into play. I compiled it in iMovie in about a 1/2 hour and once uploaded I could not wait to share it with Cizzle. I am happy to say that she thought it was pretty cool and a great way to preserve our memory. I could not agree with her more.

Nap Time

Around 3:30 I decided that it was as good as a time as any to try and take a nap. Naps are generally out of the question for me but I was pretty beat after the morning activities. Yes I did other stuff besides the YouTube editing and shoveling. C'mon I am not that old!

AR.Drone

Once my short 30 minute nap was over I decided it was as good of a time as any to take the AR.Drone out for a couple flights before the sun went down. It's a lot of fun to fly but I honestly can't wait until my mod kit gets here so I can control it with a traditional controller. After the upgrade I will have precise control which is exactly what I am yearning for now.

Don't get me wrong or worse, let it stop you from getting an AR.Drone because they are awesome either way. It's just that as I have mentioned in previous posts, the iOS as a controller is cool but I would bet that most anyone that has used a traditional controller for the majority of their RC enjoyment will prefer to use that and wish for it while flying via iOS.

Logitech Harmony Touch

Picked up the new 15 device Harmony remote last night on the way home from work and was going to set it up today but I am going to wait for the new TiVo Premiere 4 to show up. This way I don't have to program it 2 times in one week. More on that once I have it up and running, hopefully by next weekend if it happens to show up this week.

Cassette Tapes

I guess I should mention the reason behind the photo of the 4 cassette tapes. It's nothing more than the fact that I am converting some of my old punk rock tapes and skate jam tapes over to digital audio. It's kind of a pain in the ass to do but it is worth it, since most of that music I cannot find ever again.

It always blows me away how many memories listening to music brings back. I can totally remember the day and what we were doing when I hear certain songs or tapes.

Memories like finding and skating a new half pipe ramp, quarter pipe or a pool. Those were the days that's for sure. I really miss driving all over town trying to find the next sweet spot to skate. It seems like no matter what, we would always find a spot and have a kick ass session.

Supercross (Phoenix)

Tomorrow is Supercross and I can't wait! I wish I was going to see the race live, but since they stopped having the one race in San Francisco it makes it really tough. The one in Los Angeles is too far to drive for just the weekend, bummer! I read on the forums that #7 James Stewart is planning to race so I am really happy to hear that. I was worried that he would be out for the rest of the season again because of his crash last weekend during practice in Anaheim, California. Hopefully his knee is not messed up so bad that he can't run his normal "lightning speed" laps. No matter, I will still be tuning in on Sunday.

Scheels

I considered going down to Scheels outdoor store and picking up one of the .22 AR-15 rifles that I have been wanting for quite some time. The reason being is that I heard from my dad that they have a few they just got in stock (finally!), but I figure I better slow-my-roll a little bit since I have been buying a bunch of electronics the past few weeks. Not to mention that the afternoon sort of got away from me and it's kind of late now to run around.

The biggest reason that I am in a bit of a hurry is that I don't want to be kicking myself if something happens and a gun ban goes through. That would only make it a bitch or worse, nearly impossible to get one. That would really suck, they are awesome little rifles and super cheap to go out and target practice with compared to a regular AR-15 .223 round.

Not to mention if we have a kiddo someday it's the perfect caliber to teach them on. A .22 is what I learned responsible firearm use and care on and I still have mine to this day. I guess we will see if I make it down there or not. I hate to be rushed into stuff because of reasons that are out of my control, but don't expect me to be posting what exactly I have purchased or that I already own. Call me paranoid, don't care. You can't expect me to trust those dinosaurs in government, and if you do, you are crazy!

Exit

Well, I think that is about it for today. Enjoy your Saturday and what ever you might be doing with your day.
