Bass

So it's Sunday, the day to chill once again before the work week starts. That is exactly what I have been doing all day again and it has been great! The high temperature for today was predicted to be around 18° to 20° so staying inside by the nice warm fireplace was the best place to be.

Scheels

As mentioned yesterday, we decided to go to Scheels last night and look around. To my surprise they had a several of the AR-15 style, .22 caliber rifles in stock. I was not only surprised by this but also how empty the rest of the store was even a couple weeks after Christmas. Handguns, ammunition and most everything else for sport shooting enthusiast was scarce but the place was totally packed, and this was at 8:00 PM on a Saturday night! I will not say if I picked up any new toys or not but let's just say they had a several nice firearms in various styles and even better prices; all of which caught my eye as well as my interest.

Supercross (Phoenix)

The Supercross race was actually last night, so I was wrong yesterday. I thought for sure it was today. Anyway, I watch the entire 4 hours of racing last night and was happy to see that #7 James Stewart showed up for the gates to drop in the heat race and the main event. Although he did not finish where I wanted him to - on the top of the podium at least he left Phoenix in 7th.

Entertainment Center

Today I decided to mess with the entertainment center some more. I have been wanting to figure out why my Slingbox has not been working as it's supposed to. After messing around trying various things for a few hours, mainly with the bridge kit that allows you to use the electric outlets to run your networking if your router is not nearby. I realized I can actually move our cable modem and our Apple Time Capsule out to the living room because of some other changes that we made last weekend. I am really stoked about that, it will solve a bunch of problems one of which includes fixing the Slingbox. The Slingbox has been essentially dead for six months because of the piece of shit wireless bridge. I absolutely hate that fucking technology! Every single time I have ever tried to use one of those it has either not work or has only worked enough to piss me off. For clarity I am referring to the bridge not the Slingbox.

The only real downside is that we had to call Charter Media. They are not able to check what outlets are doing what over the phone. So they have to send a tech out. We actually have a tech that lives right across the street but we cannot have him come over unfortunately. I guess the way that their system works is that it has to be scheduled and then they set it up with an operator that the tech calls or something. That's okay though as long as we get it done.

So this Saturday At 8:00 AM someone is coming out to set-up the extra outlet that we have in our entertainment niche for the high-speed cable modem. This will allow us to move it out of my office. I could have also ran a splitter from the current outlet, but you end up taking the risk of signal degradation and I don't feel like dealing with that shxt. Been there done that don't want to do it again.

Not to mention that the splitters run $9 and to have the tech come out is only $10, so I figure that's a better deal. Plus if I end up having any issues with my cable card installation in the new TiVo Premiere I can have the tech look at that at that time. I actually typed that last line with a bit of a smirk because last time we were supposed to have a tech "easily" install a cable card it took them over 2 weeks of trial and error and several different techs. Finally, guess who managed to get it to work the way that it is supposed to? I did - that my friend is very annoying, but whatever.

Bass

So the reason there is a bass clef note photo today is because I was excited that I finally was able to play my bass guitar for a little while. I have not been able to play it hardly at all, actually zero, ever since I started having lumbar back Issues. Having an arm that was fucked up did not help either obviously. So it was really cool to mess with it for a little while today. My neck and upper back is a little stiff just from the short amount of time I was playing it but I think it will be okay as long as I don't overdo it. As it is I always need to remember to stretch my wrist and forearm after I play otherwise they get sore and tight. No matter, I am stoked to have been able to make some noise with it this afternoon.

Notice I did not say music I said noise, I am still a very green beginner when it comes to the instrument. I do it more for fun and to get my mind off of the real world and it works well. That is why I miss it so much when I am unable to play. I have absolutely no intention on being in a band or being some well-known bass player. My goal is to make noise that I recognize and if someone else happens to recognize it as well then that is just icing on the cake.

Dad

Tomorrow at 5:00 AM my pops goes to Renown hospital to have surgery on both of his wrists that were broken during his motorcycle accident over the summer. From the sounds of it, it is a pretty routine surgery and the recovery is only a couple weeks as well. He will mostly have to watch how much weight he lifts and that sort of thing. I am super familiar with that part of the post surgery rules from when I ruptured my bicep. While it is no fun obviously, it's not that bad, you just have to keep reminding yourself to be conscious of the things that you are lifting, grabbing, or pulling and pushing. He will do great, I just know it! More on that tomorrow but I wanted to mention it for myself as historical reference.

Enough Is Enough

Well, that is all for today. I have to do more of the final Sunday stuff tonight. The usual list of preparation like going to the grocery store, doing laundry, and getting ready for the work week. I am looking forward to my new AR.Drone RC set-up to be here this week as well as the new TiVo Premiere 4. Both items should be really cool and an upgrade from what we currently have. I am pretty friggin' stoked.
