Cool, today is my 100th post on Blogger, 100th consecutive post for that matter! I am pretty stoked about it. On my Day One personal journal I have 378 consecutive posts as well so that is pretty cool consecutive or not. Happy 100th to me, from me!
Chomp, Chomp, Crunch, Ouch!
Just before Thanksgiving Cicely and I took 1/2 day off so we could go see the new Travis Pastrana Nitro Circus movie in 3D. It was your typical Nitro Circus; crazy ass stunts done all over the world and in even crazier locations.
Being that it was a 1/2 day off work and Friday I decided to splurge a little and get a nice big bag of kettle corn - mistake! Fifteen minutes into the movie, crunching away on my corn I slammed down on a big ass, rock hard (because it was lathered with hardened kettle corn syrup) popcorn seed and holy shxt did I feel it!
Since that day my jaw has ached pretty bad on and off pretty much every day and the tooth has become more and more sensitive to chewing, hot, cold and air - fuck! Looking at it in the bathroom mirror it almost looks like it may be slightly cracked on the side as well, I hope not. A crack would suck because it may require a crown to fix and I really don't want to do that again if I can avoid it.
Fast forward to last night and the tooth or teeth were bothering me even more so first thing this morning we decided that enough-is-enough and called my dentist to see when they can get me in. Lucky for us they had an appointment at 9:30 that we could have. Cool, but a crappy way to spend the first part of a Friday morning! We are racing across town as I write this to get to the office so more on this later. Hopefully it will be a simple fix and I can go reward myself with some breakfast at Pegs Glorified Ham and Eggs!
10:30 AM - All Fixed Up
My entire mouth and most of my tongue are numb so pardon me if I drool a little bit while writing the next few paragraphs.
I am happy to say that I did not have a cracked tooth but I broke one filling and chipped another. This exposed the denton on the top of my back tooth and pissed off the nerve on the side of the tooth in front of it.
A quick numbing injection, although in a painful spot, was all it took to numb me up for once. Usually it will take anywhere from 3 to 5 injections to get numb. About 10 minutes after the injection I was totally numb and the grinding began. Once done grinding it was time for some of the filling material, set the filling with the UV wand thing, grind and adjust some more and the next thing I knew, I was done.
This was the first visit with my new dentist. Same office but the practice was taken over by a new guy. I am happy to say that he is a really good dentist and the staff, which was already awesome, is still just as great as before as they have not changed.
I went ahead and had some impressions done as well since they had the time today to do them while I was there. I am one of those sleepers that clinch and grind my teeth, so a night-guard has been something I have needed to get once again for several years. This will take care of that and hopefully work as a precautionary measure to prevent further damage and wear to my teeth. I had one in the past but it never fit as it should so I rarely used it.
Anyway, going to the dentist was not exactly the way that I would have chose to spend the first few hours of a Friday morning, but it was really easy over-all and it's nice knowing that it is all taken care of. Worst case it's the easiest thing to start with if there is something else going on.
Nephew
So I wanted to mention that my nephew Cody went in for his drivers test today and I am happy to say that he passed with flying colors. Woot! I remember the day that I got my license, it is such a freeing feeling. A lot of responsibility comes along with this freedom of course but it's the next step to becoming an adult. In all reality he is pretty much all ready there, he is a great kid and my sister and brother-in-law should be proud - I am sure they both are. Same with his brother Cameron, great kid and super smart. Anyway, just wanted to mention it and congratulate Cody once again. Congrats Cody, be safe out there - watch out for those friggin' minivans.
Wrapping It Up
Time to wrap it up for this entry. Hey at least there was something a little interesting for me to write about for my hundredth Blogger entry. I have no problem admitting that I hope entry 200 and beyond will not be more of the same. Boring and same old - same old will do just fine for that one.
For now it's off to get a smog check on Cicely's VW Beetle then the reward that I have been looking forward to - breakfast at Pegs with my amazing wife! Until next time, enjoy your Friday!
