Busy Start

Ahh, woke up a little late today and in doing so I guess that was the pace the universe deemed appropriate for the entire first part of the morning and the remainder of the day. Good thing my Blind Dog coffee kicked in fast!

Crazy

So work was crazy busy today. After taking Friday off things really piled up in one days time. I thought for sure I was in the clear for a day off but my current game dictated otherwise. There was more new and updated content dropped than there was the entire 10 days that I was in the Caribbean last year.

On the bright side it helps the start of the week go by faster and helps to jump into the week running full steam. Possibly this will help to make the week taper off toward Friday. If not that is ok too, I get paid the same either way and I would prefer to stay busy.

It's just difficult because since the start of 2013 we are required to take off more days than we want to and more than most of us have ever taken off in the past. Don't get me wrong, everyone takes time off but usually in week long chunks or so. But because my company implemented a new policy where you cannot accrue more than 240 hours of DTO (discretionary time off) you are essentioinally forced to take time off much more often.

For those of us like myself (and a huge percentage of the company) that have been here for over 10 years it's hard to use the time without appearing as though you are always off. I earn nearly 11 hours of DTO every pay period so if I don't take off a minimum of 2 days per month then I start losing my benefit. I understand why the company implemented the policy; to keep the money off the books and not rolling over every year but it's dam hard and disruptive to take so much time. In the past we could save up 400 hours and 600 before that which was great. Prior to the 600 there was no cap, but that got out of hand pretty fast where people would be let go and get cut a nice extra check for 800 hours of DTO - nice exit bonus if I say so myself.

Boo-hoo I know, but I would personally rather continue to accrue time and then if there is an overage at the end of the year they could wipe the slate clean at that time for the new year. Enough bitching I guess, it is what it is I guess, we will all learn to live and work within it.

Up Late

So I stayed up much too late watching videos on YouTube these two guys started doing. They own a pawn shop in Jonesboro, Georgia called Moss Pawn and since early last year started doing YouTube videos about firearm safety, buying your first firearm, new laws that at the time were not even being thought about and so on. Sure there is some light conspiracy stuff in there but their discussions and topics are generally 99% factual from what I have found.

The videos I stayed up watching were the series that they are doing on "Gun Gripes". This would encompass things such-as calling accessories by the incorrect names, most of which were glorified by the mass media and so on. Lot's of good info and they are pretty entertaining at the same time. So far they have almost 60 of the gun gripes series and many of several other series. They are also working on some new ones I think. I for one hope that they keep it up, I enjoy watching them and getting another perspective on all of the stuff that is going down.

Eject

Enough for this days entry. Time to focus and bust out more content before calling it a day. Tomorrow will be an early day because we have an appointment to get Cicely's VW Beetle serviced. At least it will get us into the office early which translates into going home earlier. Gotta love that! If you are still dredging through day, I hope Monday is treating you right!
