Another day that started out with unique weather, mist and fog. Ok, fog we have had for the past few weeks but mist is new and I like it. It's a little warmer and with the misty weather it almost feels tropical. Well without the humidity, white sand beaches - you get the idea. Simply cool to have more unique weather as it gives you something to look forward to in the morning.
Nephew
Today is my nephew Cody's 19th birthday. HaPpY bIrThDaY dude, I hope it is a great one for you! Crank your guitar amp up to 11 and rock the house all day if you want, it's your day to enjoy!
Meetings About Meetings
At work when I am not in meetings about meetings today I will be ramping up on a new game and finishing up one I have been developing for the past year. Because of the new game on my plate, the majority of my day will be filled with meetings about meetings so we can get everyone on the same page with development, it's a necessary pain.
For me it's one of the hardest times in the game development process. As a technical artist we have to really help to keep everyone on track and within the available man hours for a game. While at the same time taking into account all of the cool ideas and suggestions that everyone on the team has to offer. Problem is, I am on a compressed schedule with the new game.
Generally we have 10 to 15,000 hours for development of an average game, or roughly 11 months. For my newly assigned game we will only have 8,000 hours or roughly 7 months. Because of this it's critical that we don't scope-creep from the start. Should be fun, my team for this game is another really good one, some of which I have developed with multiple times before. I am looking forward to the challenge as always, and hope we develop a successful game.
RC Willey
Heading to RC Willey tonight to look into some new lamps for our bedroom. While there we plan to window-shop for new living room furniture and a few things for the bedroom as well. Our living room furniture, while in great shape, is not as functional as we would like it to be, especially when we have company over so we want to start planning for an updated layout.
One thing leads to another when you start doing updates in the house as anyone that has done it knows. That is the main reason we plan to window-shop, measure and window-shop some more. I can only imagine that once we change furniture then paint will be next then that leads to new flooring and all of this leads to more expenses. Fun stuff, but it has to be paced.
Outta Here
Done rabble rambling for today, not much else exciting in the news. I have yet to hear if Beyonce' did in fact lip sync her performance for the puppets on a string Monday so no update there. I think I will finish out this Thursday and look forward to the end of the week and weekend relaxation mixed in with some supercross racing on Sunday, woot!
