Today is the 4th of July and I am starting it off with a bang (pun intended). First, because I'm up early and ready to get out of the house I am going to go on a nice bike ride and see what i can come up with as far as miles go. If I am able to put in at least 20 I will be more than happy. As most say, anything over 20 miles is considered a 'long ride'.
Cycling
Back from my spin and just missing the rain once again. I did get spit on a little by the clouds but nothing more than what would make me feel good on a muggy hot day. My spin was great and I ended up with just over 32 miles which I am more than happy with. Especially given the fact that my legs did feel a little mushy after yesterdays ride and then working on the bike in the garage today before leaving doe snot help.
I guess you would not call it work really, I was more concerned with a loose headset that Ive been dealing with. Its not a difficult fix by any means, instead more of a few minutes to set it and get everything buttoned back up, which I did. The side effect is that it makes me want to fix a few other things that are of concern, which I did.
To kick things off once I was done with the headset I adjusted the bars by first putting on a different stem that I had on there once before and was not sure about it - as far as if I liked it or not. So far so good. I then adjusted the bars and the Garmin / GoPro combo mount. Next it was on to the chain so the wax would have time to try before heading out. Once done there it was time to make a few adjustments to the saddle.
All of that behind me it was last but not least, time to put everything back together or on the bike that I had taken off to do the repairs. Then fill up the tires to the desired pressure and put all of the tools and related away. Sure it 'wasted' about 45 minutes to an hour of my cycling time but its all done for now and ready to go - which I did.
Baseball, Sweets & Fireworks
Zoey had an absolute blast yesterday at the baseball park. She had her first ever taste of a pretzel with salt and melted cheese (although I did scrape the cheese off her bites). Next she washed it down with either water or a few sips of soda, something we generally would not let her have.
She then was able to have some cotton candy which I think she loved and wanted more of. The idea was a taste, not to destroy her appetite for things she should be eating. We also got her some of those little dot ice cream things. I never remember what its called, but she loved it.
Eventually she fell asleep for a short nap, this of course after I carried her around on my shoulders for a couple hours it seemed. Oh we played in the park too, they have a little kids playground in that area and she wanted to play in it so we took her over to it. We helped her down the slide, we helped her to climb around on stuff and she has a blast.
Anyway, next was a quick nap for her in the stroller - maybe 15 or 20 minutes worth before we woke her up to watch the fireworks. While she was not necessarily happy about being woken up, there was no way we were going to have her miss them. I thought for sure she would be pissed when we woke her up, thankfully she was not. Instead she was more along the lines of being super happy and memorized by the display.

Great time for everyone and I think she really enjoyed her first 4th of July that she could remember. Last year being so young, I don't think she'd liked them as much and they may have only scared her because of the big boom doing off. This year she enjoyed it - Yippee! Love you Zoey, I hope you had as good of a time as I am assuming you did. Until our next family fun event I love you very much and look forward to as many of these times together as possible!
Photo: Cool photo I dug up online. I could not find a photo credit so it's not on here. If anyone get their panties in a bind over it I am happy to add the credit or take it down, sheesh!
